so...what does anyone on here know about the LOVERLY place called Sohag.?? its just north of Luxor, I believe.

well, SQ...ain't goin without hubby in tow ! wonder if there is even any kind of decent hotel there - cuz I am too damn old to rough it !

Jean, Sohag sucks average; but the people are really nice.
Al-Safa Hotel is probably the only decent one there.
There's hardly anything to see there other than the White & Red Monasteries. It is a major Coptic Christian center for Upper Egypt. Oh and the Nile view there is nice too.
And it's at least 3 hours by car from Luxor- I think.
