It used to be renewed because it was making money. As was pointed out in another thread, this site only now gets 700 hits a day and is dropping. It doesn't make money anymore. It will be deleted since the owner (Sammy) will be making a loss if he continues to pay for the domain.
Regardless if traffic picks up, the site has become completely irrelevant since it has become a troll-haven with Mike111's "albino" BS, and then the spam threads from Abaza/White Nubian and his countless socks.
assuming 700 hits a day, is accurate and = not profitable and how much it costs to keep domain there are still some ads in other parts of the site, may not be accounted for in $8 specs

They just have to renew the "lease" and Feb 14 is the day that's all. That and the current owners get first crack reserves for the renewal. Only if they default do others get a shot.

look at similar domain checking webistes and see if they have similar numbers.
Also look at other parts of the webiste that are not forums
It depend on who is looking at the site and if the right products are being sold to who most people looking at the site are,
For instance how many people might look at an Egyptian history topic in a day compared to how many would be looking for Egyptian touring company information

This forum is good, with lots of knowledge being shared and learned.
But it's in some ways a failure in that there's no active mods or administrator who can get rid of trolls. If at least members have a real ignore list that actually blocks posts, that could help.
It would be nice if the moderators could hand over leadership to the trusted members here, who are active and could then eliminate the trolls.
ESR seems good too, and I don't understand why people don't post there instead.
Another weakness in this forum is the insane postings by Mike111 and his obsession with Europeans and albinos. It's just annoying, full of lies and doesn't help people who actually want to learn real history. It also makes us look bad.
