They are seeking to unify or create a broad framework of support
and sharing for the students. This is a good thing. More and more
some see a harsher, meaner spirit out there towards black folk-
not a return to KKK cross burning, but more sophisticated
propaganda operations, backed by fierce defenses and deceptive denials
of white privilege and self-serving white behavior.
It is based in the UK I see. The white English are famous for
their hypocrisy and deception- perfidious Albion! But Americans
and other Europeans are not far behind.

More and more a basic unity is needed. This need not be
under one or a few "charismatic "leaders" or a central headquarters.
The particular organization or venue is not as important
as the existence of a "broad front" a type of "operational" unity
that will vigorously defend black folk, but also put the primary focus
also on internal self-development and organization. Too often
the political protest part is focused on rather than disciplined INTERNAL
organization and work- individually or collectively. The Asians have
the method down. We need to do the same. For example black kids
are too often, wasting massive amounts of time in school, helping their enemies
disparage and despise them. Then there is the stupid "street"
behavior of some, that again, draws repressive forces- essentially
making ourselves an easy target for our enemies and/or detractors.
Systems of oppression are bad enough- must we help them?

Look at the old "Afrocentric pledge" from the 1980s below.
It is obviously a regime of hard core discipline and effort.
To many today, such demands are hopelessly utopian
or are an object of ridicule. Towards the end of his
life Dr. Ivan Van Sertima complained about the apathy among many
black folk, and how in too many cases it was white institutions
that provided crucial support, not reputed "soul brothers."
(See Manu AMpin video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nU_FZG5xAfc on this).

Hopefully these students by their efforts will help to redress some
of the balance, and there is nothing in this that precludes
building of alliances or coalitions with others.

Deep.

It's not by accident, but by design, how they try to rationalize historical wrongdoings.

Thanks Ish Gebor,

I thought I invented the term, but I see it has been around.

I was thinking of:

Africa + (Non-Eurocentric) Anthropology = Afropology.
