EGYPT A-Z Websites for Additional Information
Post any sites you wish to, with brief explanation if needed of what they contain. Also if you post a site (link) in another thread, repost it here, if you have time, as not everyone reads all the posts.
Please do not post to this thread unless adding a website.

I have taken all the info from this thread started by Laura http://www.egyptsearch.com/forums/Forum1/HTML/000826.html and collated it here. Removing duplicates and categorising, some sites didn’t have any explanation or I couldn’t fit them so I have left them at the bottom.

When you add a site I will edit it into this post so people don’t have to hunt through the posts. It has actually developed into a useful set information, well done ES

Hottest night spots at the North Coast

(Copy and paste because the site does weird stuff)

Sizzling summer nights

By Safaa Abdoun
First Published: July 29, 2006
Check the hottest night spots at the North Coast

NORTH COAST, Alexandria: The summer is here and it's sizzling on the North Coast with great beaches to hang out at in the morning but when the sunsets it's when everything really gets started so here is are a few places you have to check out while you are out there.

Pacha Marina
Description: The club that first opened in Sharm El Sheikh is characterized by low tables and sleek couches mixed with the exotic lightening and a crowded dance floor that buzzes through the early hours of the next day.
Why you should go: Their House Nation parties every Friday features international acclaimed DJs. Every Thursday night there will be a different London MOS DJ and Wednesday is a night of the best R&B and hiphop. There is also Saturdays Cherry Drop, featuring retro house music mixed with the latest beats, and Sundays Hits Mania, featuring resident DJs. It's a guaranteed that you will stay up all night dancing.
Address: Marina Club, Gate 2, Marina El Alamein

Cuba Cabana
Description: Overlooking the Marina Lake, the place features a pool and a garden. Comfortable beige bean bags and chairs characterize the place, with the beige theme prevalent in the seating area surrounding the pool. There a couple of swings to enjoy.
Why you should go: Enjoying the comfy bean bags and the yummy burgers makes a perfect outing whether at day or at night.
Address: Gate 5, Marina El Alamein

Tahiti
Description: The place screams posh modern deco, whether in the seating area surrounding the rectangular pool or further away. It's all adorned with palm trees and plasma screens.
Why you should go: It combines the modern setting and the tropical feel. If you stay long enough, the posh clientele start a dancing frenzy.
Address: Porto Marina, Marina El Alamein

Makani, Route 66 and Zoe
Description: The décor tries to combine the spirit of the three different restaurants, the modern oriental deco of Makani, the simplicity of Route 66, and the Asian magic of Zoe. Adding the abundance of cushions and the result is a cosy place whether you are using the white furniture surrounded by the red Chinese curtains by the lake or in wood-adorned seating area at the entrance.
Why you should go: The place is surprisingly quieter than the other night spots in Marina but is never dull. There are three menus to choose from: the sandwiches and snacks and the famous sushi at Makani, the Asian cuisine at Zoe and the burgers at Zoe.
Address: Gate 5, Marina El Alamein, (off the Juhayna Square)

New Tourist Residency Visa Regulations in Egypt.

October 2008 at Mogamma Cairo

At window 28 of the Mogamma they have a sign up. It is next to the windows that you do the residency visas at 30/31 and opposite 3x 3 star officers.
The sign is in arabic.
Maybe it has just gone up? maybe non arabic speakers missed it.

It gives 4 conditions for option 1.

We went to ask one of these officers with 3 stars on the lapel and seemed official and was dealing with all the legalities of the visas etc.
He seemed very clued up and was very polite and helpful.

He said this.

You can get the residency visa 2 ways.

1) By having a property to the value of $50,000.
We asked for further clarification and he said that it MUST be registered, and it must be to the value of the 50,000 dollars. he quoted the price in Sterling that day, but I forget it.
If your property is not registered ie with a company/compound, and not handed over to the council yet you CANNOT get the visa that way.
You HAVE to have been paying property tax on it and you cannot do that till you register it with the council.
If you have a registered property in your name it MUST have been bought with money from OUTSIDE of EGYPT. You MUST provide a letter from your bank to confirm that the money came from a foreign bank to your Egyptian one.
The money that is brought in in foreign currency HAS to be changed into Egyptian currency, and you MUST show proof of that transaction, either from your bank or a bureau de change.
You also MUST provide to the Mogamma a receipt from the place where you have registered your property that shows in YOUR name the property tax that has been paid on it.
You also MUST provide one utility bill ie phone or electric in YOUR NAME to the address of your property.
These 4 conditions must be met.

If you registered property is registered below the current value and that is under $50,000, you DO NOT qualify for that avenue of residency.
He said that you cannot mix property value along with cash savings to bring it up to $50,000. It is either or. He was clear about that.

He said if you do not meet all the criteria for option 1, then you can do option 2.

Option 2

You must have $50,000 cash in an Egyptian bank.
That money MUST have come like option 1 from outside Egypt. He said that if you are applying for a residency visa, that means you must have had a tourist one beforehand, and that one does NOT allow work.
He said it was to ensure that the money came from outside and not from earnings made illegally in Egypt.
You have to provide proof from your Egyptian bank account that all the money came from outside Egypt.
It has to be equivalent to $50,000 at the time of applying for the residency visa whatever currency it is in.

He also said that 3 year max was all they were allowing for renewal of touristic visa's. He explained that 3 years was what was decided would be enough time to see all of Egypt as a tourist.
That was at the ministry's discretion.

The only other way to stay in Egypt would be as a tourist staying for the max period from the airport visa.

I hope that I have made this understandable as I am typing this fast to make sure I dont forget anything, on the sign and what was said.

It was a clear sign on the window and the officer knew all the details.

Let Egypt Yellow Pages Help You Plan Your Next Vacation

Egypt Yellow Pages Ltd offers regular, satellite, and hybrid map views for most leisure locations, making driving to your destination in Egypt easier.

Cairo, Egypt – September 13, 2009 – With more than 1,100 listings for hotels and resorts on its popular YellowPages.com.eg and Mobile Yellow Pages sites, Egypt Yellow Pages Ltd, the Local Search Company, is a leading resource for travelers planning vacations in Egypt.

Whether you seek the sun and fun of Red Sea resorts, or want to experience Egypt’s historical treasures, or are a budget-conscious backpacker, YellowPages.com.eg and Mobile Yellow Pages will help you locate the destination that fits your needs and desires.

Non-residents, who want to create their own holiday visit to Egypt, can obtain contact information for hotels and communicate directly with the properties they choose. Through the Egypt Yellow Pages Ltd links to many hotel websites, travelers can find out rates, availability, and leisure and service offerings.

Residents will find the “map it” feature most useful. Egypt Yellow Pages Ltd offers regular, satellite, and hybrid map views for most leisure locations, making driving to your destination in Egypt easier. “When living in Egypt, it’s fairly straight-forward to get from city to city, however, once you’ve hit the city limits, finding a specific location usually involves asking shop owners and others for directions,” said Marc Lambert, Regional Managing Director for Egypt Yellow Pages Ltd. “Now, you need only to access Mobile Yellow Pages to get where you’re going on your own,” Mr. Lambert added.

The satellite and hybrid map views on YellowPages.com.eg and Mobile Yellow Pages also allow travelers to view the layout of the property from their computer or mobile phone. “For instance, if you’re curious how close a certain hotel is to the beach, or what the layout of a resort’s golf course is, YellowPages.com.eg maps will let you see it,” said Mr. Lambert.

Based in Maadi, Cairo, Egypt Yellow Pages Ltd is the official publisher of Yellow Pages-branded products in Egypt. Egypt Yellow Pages Ltd is the exclusive owner of the Yellow Pages™, Walking Fingers & Design™, and YellowPages.com.eg™ trademarks in Egypt, and is supported by over 400 employees and 15 regional offices throughout Egypt. Yellow Pages distribution surpassed 390,000 print directories in 2008, as well as delivering millions of page views on YellowPages.com.eg electronic properties.
