Ahmad, you should come and see my postcard collection (hey no second intentions involved here [Wink] ). Anyway I got close to 500 antique postcards (many of them are stamped and traveled to faraway places) from the early 20th century showing places and locals.... beautiful. They mean so much to me, my little treasures.

Kasr El Nil bridge was rebuilt in the thirties to its present form.

Click on Le Caire then on Zamalek and move on to see the sequence of events throughout those days.

I once added this link on ES, its in French. [Frown]

They are not color photographs but black and white ones that are hand-colored.

I had to this in my first year at university when taking photography and lab classes ... it's fun, and the results are beautiful and artistic, but it's very tedious.

Check this out:

Yes, I think they are. You can tell by the look of the photographs. But it's also obvious from the date. Techniques to create color photographs existed even before 1900, but the results weren't stable. The first commercial color film was introduced to the market around 1935.

Love all the pictures in this thread, btw. [Smile]

AWESOME PICS

Such detailed architecture too, yet even in this new milineum Egypt is considered to still be a third world country... baffling!
