i am a pretty young person. i will admit this. but when i meet an egyptian guy named mohamed online, and started having feeling for him, not love and marriage, just likeing him as a boyfriend. i thought that we can never be together and we are too different. i am american and christian. he is egyptian and muslim. but the more i read through the topics in es the more i realize, i am so stupid. people of every nationality get married all the time. and a lot of these marriages are successfull. and they all somehow accept eachother no matter how different they are. thank u everyone. who has ever posted a topic on this site. u have shown me how stupid i really am. in a good way of course. u guys are kool.

Doll,

The relationships forged online are a disaster waiting to happen. Same with the relationships forged on vacations. Big no no.

When love arrives it will be unexpected and sudden. Or it will burn into your life and consume you slowly.

I think you are more infatuated with the prospect of a 'Sweet Taboo' which is exactly why interfaith and interculture marriages fry.

Plus you must keep in mind that Egypt is a developing country. These egy boys only hear of the wealth and privilage entailed in marrying a westerner. And in the end if those two things aren't there, it makes both parties extremely miserable.

Arab Muslim or Coptic/Western infidel marriages can work. But its extremely small margin if wealth and privilage isn't handed to them on a silver platter. The man needs to match your class and lifestyle expectations. People don't marry other levels of soceity like we Americans do here, it just doesn't work.

Possibly a man who is established already, and has a career and financial stability is the best choice. Definately not a village boy, but a upper class Cairne or upper class Alexandrian are good matches for westerners. And not a young man, but an older man, huge differences in those two aspects class and age.

I agree with Sonomod -- it's a tough road for most, combining distance with cultural differences.

I am really happy you found friendship with someone different from you. It shows a wonderfully-open mind. But don't ever think of yourself as stupid, OK? You absolutely are NOT.

Take good care.

Lisastebel, I dont know if you will listen to this advice or think, "this will never happen to me". But be careful. You see if you were dealing with money or something material, it wouldnt matter, but remember you are involving your heart in this game. and you are taking a very, very big risk. Just to inform all of you here, IT DOESNT HAVE TO DO WITH BEING ENGLISH OR EGYPTIAN! It has to do, withits already hard to get to know the real person when you meet them everyday and just talking to them through the net doesnt help at all!! I can enter a chat room now, and I can surely get four if not 6 men whom I find very attractive in the way they talk and all that. BUT I am sure if I met them in real life, all would be out of the game. remember that talk is not what matters here, and thats the thing that women always seems to make a mistake by. (me too) we hear them talk so sweet and reasonable that we belive that we found the perfect man. Belive me that is NOT true.
You are enterig one of Las vegas big casinos and hoping to go out with a big jackpot, and that is very very very rare!
And there is one more thing, those women and men who has a mixed cultural marriage , it didnt go magically well and not "somehow accepted eachother" it takes a lot of struggle, sacrifice and courage and not to mention LOVE to to come this far.

Just rethink before you jump in, and treat your heart well so it can make you happy in the end.

You got the wrong girl, sweetheart. Money doesn't interest me and I wouldn't advise another woman to put that at the top of her list. Integrity and compassion rate much higher.

Yeah but in an impoverished country money can by alot of intregrity and compassion.

Its hard for poor men to have integrity and compassion when they must lose it to survive.

what works states side doesn't work on the banks of the Nile.
