Currently living in Cairo, and I am looking for somewhere nice to go with 3 young kids. Where would the nearest seaside be from Cairo, and would it be possible or even worthwhile to do it in a day and to reurn back to Cairo the same day.

Best time to go is NOW! In the summer it's way too hot and in the winter it's too cold to swim.

It's about 1 hour drive from the borders of Cairo. So yes, many people do it in one day and back.
