Hello

Is there a cheap gym around Maadi that one could use for a short period of time?

I am not interested in the Gold's Gym [Eek!]

Thanks for your help

I will be in Maadi tomorrow, I will ask the locals there to see if they can help.

Hi Farstar,

the CSA gym offers short term memberships. The gym has a nice and relaxed atmosphere, but it's very small and basic.

Samia Allouba's gym is well-equipped and very nice, not cheap though.

You could also try the Knockout Gym in New Maadi, I haven't been there personally, but am planning to check it out soon. The information on the website looks quite good imo.

I assume you're a guy. [Wink] For women, there is also Curves in New Maadi.

Also, there are several small gyms scattered around Maadi, don't remember the exact names or locations, but they might be worth checking out when you're actually in the area and have the time to drive around a bit.

How much is golds gym? In general, how much does upmarket gym membership cost in cairo?

A Gold's Gym membership is around 4,300 LE for a year. I don't know about any of the others.

WoW! Thats pretty much the same price as gyms in London. 40 odd quid a month. Interesting to know.

Maybe that's why the OP was not interested in Gold's. [Eek!]

I only mentioned it for the benefit of others who may find this post by searching the internet for gyms in Maadi.

UKthoughful... 40 quid a month is 10 quid a week dude!!! I paid more than double that in the Mids!!!

I didn't ask around as I saw Dalia's answer and I know she lives there and now mini is back (wb) you are in GOOD hands with these ladies.

LF im guessing you go to one of two gyms in the mids... but in london only one gym in picadilly circus is about 100 quid a month.

The rest are between 35 and 70ish for beter chains. Unless gyms in the mids are more expensive than those in London, i know theyre bigger! Its still a lot by egyptian standards.. dont u think??

I have seen the golds site though - looks nice [Smile]

Has maadi still got those lovely green unspoilt views??

100 quid a month is average... that is only 25 quid a week... not even a fiver a day!!! Damn...

I bought a step machine for 400le and a weights are readily available here.. it may be cheaper to recreate your own gym.

Personally I hate gyms... I just persevered in UK!

400le for a stepper? That sounds good. Much cheaper to make your own gym.

but you cant beat walking - even if they try to make 101 machines, they will never match good old walking [Smile] I think the social aspect of gyms appeals to many though.

So, when you come to Cairo join the Hash.. they meet every Friday at 2pm and go out desert walking. It is for all nationalities and is a good way of socialising and meeting people. I was out last night with the Hash crowd and they invite me on to all social events.

The stepper was from Spinneys, a large supermarket in City Stars that really does appear to sell everything.

I wanted to find a pay as you go gym in Heliopolis but to no avail.
