Between 20 and 26 March, the departments of Anthropology, Egyptology and Sociology at the American University in Cairo (AUC) is hosting and organising the Cairo Documentary Film Festival.

Among the films selected for the festival are:

Garbage Dreams
Camelrama (an experimental travel film)
Walls (the Turkish experience after the fall of the Berlin Wall)
Fashioning Faith (the topic of Islamic fashions in New York City)
Coffee Futures (EU/Turkey relations)
Still (tensions in Cyprus)
Imperial Outposts (the history of US military bases in Turkey)

The festival also features two documentary films which tackle Iranian political consciousness:

Plastic Flowers Never (a commemoration of Iranian martyrs)

Iran: Voices of the Unheard (a diverse set of contemporary views).

AUC dedicates the final day of the festival, 26 March, to documentaries that feature Egypt's January 25 Revolution, including a series of short Internet-based videos. As part of the day’s events, a panel of filmmakers, scholars, activists and archivists will participate in a panel discussion on the intersection of technology, aesthetics, politics and the challenges of documenting revolution in real time.

The free festival is open to the public and will take place at AUC's New Cairo and Tahrir Square campuses.

Hey freebie lovers it's free.
