Could any of you recommend any good books about Ancient Egypt. Currently I have begun reading Akhenaten the false prophet.

Really great book is 'the tutankhamen deception' by Gerald O'Farrell...makes for controversial reading, but hey! controversy is good to read. And very good too!

Have you ever tried Inter-library loan? A new book just published by Egyptologist David O Connor looks interesting. The title is Egypt in Africa.

With regards to books, a couple came out last year. I'm yet to read them but they look interesting:
Ancient Egypt in Africa - Encounters with Ancient Egypt Series by Andrew Reid and Peter Ucko (August 2003)
Genesis of the pharoahs by Toby Wilkinson (April 2003)
I've read the following and it's quite good, if a little academic:

Even Gadalla's book is propaganda not history. He just puts native Egyptian clothes on Speke's Hamitic Hypothesis (sending them westward instead of southward).
