When the rule of Akhenaten is discussed, there is much disagreement concerning any co-regency between him and his father, Amenhotep III. Theories abound--from no co-regency, a short one of not more that 2 years, one slightly longer--9--and up to 12. In his book, "The Amarna Age: Egypt" Frederick Giles favors the longer co-regency, and lists several sources in his bibliography proving his point. After reading the book, I tend to agree with him. But I would be most interested in hearing other theories, from members of this board. Could you all post comments, along with sources quoted, on this thread?
