Hi all, this is my first post.

I'm Italian and I'm studying Ancient Egyptian in its so-called Middle stage form. Here in Italy a "killer book" on the subject is still missing so I'm using some books in foreign language (read: English, can't speak yet a syllable of German), and among these there's the very famous "Egyptian Grammar" by Sir Alan Gardiner.

As you might have already guessed from the topic's title, I'd like to know what parts of the grammar are now considered obsolete. I've read here and there on the Web that there's this "Polotsky's Standard Theory" about syntax that's gaining popularity and that's very different from Gardiner and others scholars' intepretation of the A.E. sentence structure.

What should I do in the end? Remember I'm "fresh" and apt to absorb everything I'm told about the syntax. I'd rather not learn wrong concepts.

Thanks.

Wrong board!
The theme here is "race", go back to the search engine and good luck with your question.

Pardon but isn't the "Ancient Egypt" subforum meant to be related to that topic?

This Yonis is such a DICK.

Hang tight Antonio. This is where the best experts in the world on AE hang out. Most likely someone will answer your question.

Yeah we talk race a lot but can't be avoided with AE.
