In 1960 when we had another close election it was the republicans accusing the democrats of stealing the election.[/qb]
First in 1960 Kennedy was still an elected president. If you remember in 2000 we did not have an elected president, we had an appointed one. 1960 was not the only case. There have been many close calls where both groups accused each other of similar BS but the situation regarding the last two elections are far different. If you don’t agree with me, I would suggest you study up computerized voting and then make up your mind. Also the systematic manner in which voters were disallowed to vote (such as claims of criminality, which months later were cleared as mistakes by the state) thousands of voters were rejected in this manner in Florida alone. Whole ballot boxes which were not even picked up let alone counted and many more methods. If you are not aware of this then you need to take your head out of your ass turn off cnn, fox, msnbc and read up a little. 1960 and 2000, 2004 not comparable
[qb] Even if the elections had gone the other way our mideast policy would have been the same. [/qb]
I never made any claim that our policy would have been any different. I was simply making an observation that a non democratically elected government is championing democracy to other nations. So your correct our policy would not have been different regardless of who wins the election (because the government does not run the country corporations i.e. chevron, Halliburton and so on, are really at the healm) the election just decides on which group of people will get the trickling down of dollars.
[qb] As for Palestine there would be no gain for the United States in supporting the Palestinians. Israel is a solid and dependable american ally in the region. In fact, next to the British Israel has been, and I suspect will continue to be our closest ally. [/qb]
yes that’s obvious, Israel is a longtime pal of america. What you should be asking is why America is so interlinked with Israel. America has for years supported and allied itself with a nation if it served its interest and distanced itself when it no longer did. But why is it so different with Israel? [/QB]
