Yes, a U.S. citizen was killed by the administration's actions, but they circumvented the legal ramifications of it, by saying that the citizen was not the target of the assassination. The policy to outright target a citizen for assassination without legal proceeding therefore made its debut under the Obama administration. The article therefore was not contradicting itself, as you protest, when it said that this was the first time that a U.S. citizen was actively targeted and specifically assassinated with the government's authorization: [i]It was believed to [b]be the first instance in which a U.S. citizen was tracked and executed[/b] based on [b]secret intelligence[/b] and [b]the president's say-so[/b].[/i] Your article only reinforces the idea that this is an unprecedented undertaking.
