I looove chili, particularly in winter. Actually, making chili is on my list for this week ... the vegetarian version, of course. [Wink]

Good Grief!!! That recipe would feed an army . . . and blast their heads off from the "heat" at the same time . . . not to mention the fire "down below" as it evacuates, lol!!!!

No, it's sour cream.

The picture actually belongs to a vegan recipe, although the sour cream would obviously make it non-vegan. [Wink]

Ingredients

1-tablespoon vegetable oil
1 cup chopped onion
1 cup chopped red bell pepper
2 tablespoons minced jalapeno pepper
1 clove minced garlic
1 can (28 ounces) crushed tomatoes
1 can (15 ounces) rinsed and drained garbanzo beans
½ cup corn
Ό cup tomato paste
1-teaspoon sugar
1-teaspoon ground cumin
1 teaspoon dried basil leaves
1-teaspoon chili powder
Ό teaspoon black pepper
Sour cream, shredded cheddar cheese, and fresh basil leaves (optional)

Instructions

Heat oil in large nonstick skillet over medium-high heat until hot.

Add onion, bell pepper, jalapeno pepper and garlic; cook and stir 5 minutes or until vegetables are tender.

Transfer vegetables to slow cooker.

Add remaining ingredients except sour cream, cheese, and fresh basil leaves; mix well.

Cover; cook on low 4 to 5 hours.

Garnish with sour cram, cheese, and fresh basil leaves (if desired).

I just made chili a day ago with ground turkey.

What I cannot understand is why anyone who lives with a Muslim or cooks for a Muslim cooks a recipee tht calls for pork?

cooking from a recipe does not mean it was cooked for a muslim. Micky is a chef and possibly her clients are not muslim.

The restaurant I work in is in Egypt and many recipes have bacon and ham in them, although we cant get any as all the pigs were killed! When we do have bacon and ham they are cooked BY the muslim chef and served BY the muslim waiter because our clients are not always muslim. Obviously the muslim clients will not order from those recipes. [Roll Eyes]
