Hey Micky, yes it's called hummus and if they get confused with chick peas, just tell them hummus lebnani.

Sometimes they get hummus confused with tahina, tahina is more prominent here in Egypt. It is a more watery type of dip made from a sesame seed paste. The sesame seed paste is called tahini while they actual completed dip is called tahinA. Includes lemon, salt, garlic, etc.

Damn I get an appetite during winter. Now I want Egyptian Tahina.

I think there is just a little bit of confusion with the Tahina and Tahini.

Tahina is the finished dip. It's what Egyptians have with many meals. It's essentially made from tahini and other ingredients.

Tahini is the actual sesame seed paste that is sold in jars and used primarily in Tahina (salad) and secondarily in Hummus.

Hummus (a good hummus) usually has mashed chick peas + tahini

There's no right or wrong because you often hear Hummus bi-tahina.

I think I managed to even complicate matters.
