BC inscriptions in Akkele Guzay, according to Rodolfo Fattovich, and Norbert Nebes states that the earliest ESA inscriptions of Yemen are in the 8th century BC, but all of these dates are very approximate, and we haven't found the early stages of ESA yet, that I know of. I've heard a couple times of late 2nd millenium or early 1st millenium prototypes having been found a few times, but without citation, so we'll see when those show up where the earliest stage was.
