As for Y-DNA J, which is usually associated with Semitic peoples; it doesn't really mean much in the larger picture. Y-DNA J is very likely older than the Semitic languages, and probably just a surviving remnant of proto-Afro-Asiatic peoples who lived there before gene replacing Caucasoid migration entered the area.

Here's an excerpt that might give us an understanding of the north African "Arabs" (Berbers) and their gene pool:

Two members of the Afro-Asiatic language family correspond to different major branches of the genetic tree: East Africans (mostly Ethiopians), who are genetically African, and Berbers, North Africans who are genetically Caucasoid. Ethiopians are to various degrees mixtures of African and Caucasoid gene pools, with an African preponderance (on the average) so that they join Africans in the genetic tree. Most Ethiopians speak languages of Cushitic, a major branch of the Afro-Asiatic, some speak Nilo-Saharan languages, but relatively recent and known historical events contributed to the spread to northern Ethiopia of south Arabian languages (the Semitic branch of the Afro-Asiatic family). Clearly there was in Ethiopia substantial gene replacement, which may be quite different in different places, and, at least in some cases, there was also language replacement (see chap. 3).

^ This issue has been addressed countless times in this forum. Just to give you a hint: The article is WRONG based on the simple fact that it uses the racial term "caucasoid".

"Ethiopians are to various degrees mixtures of African and Caucasoid gene pools"

They have 3-6% middle eastern dna that is not mixed?

But not wrongon the Dna findings in Africa, and that it is also a haplogroup found in africa also.

it far more likely horners were the proto-semites that came into the crescent so there would be some dna overlap. It wasn't Semites passing on
"Caucasian" traits onto Horners. If it were so they would'nt be black as spades with overwhelmingly african dna.

horners are the proto-caucasoids!

caucasians giving the horners "progressive" genes it's too hilarious for words.

Yes, but DNA haplogroups and 'racial types' are two very different things with the latter being a subjective non-scientific notion. There is no such thing as "caucasoid"!!

Mind letting us know what your citation means by various degrees of "Caucasoid" mixture in the Ethiopian gene pool? Where would one find this various degree of admixture? What are the specific haplogroups? What are the frequencies in each sampled population?

and how is the objective notion to it?Just asking?

^ I don't understand your question. Haplotypes in genetics are objective entities whereas 'racial' types in physical anthropology are not.

Geneticists do not any longer classify haplotypes into defunct race archtypes. There are no caucasoid haplotypes.

The highest amount of haplotype J in Africa is found amongst the Lemba Bantu of Southern Africa.

There physical appearance is not distinct from other South African Bantu.

All of the Arabia has multiple African lineages including E, L1, L2 and L3.

And southern Europe especially has all these linaeges as well.

Yet the genetically illiterate advocators of race *never* speak a word about *Negroid* lineages in Europe.

According to them - there are none - regardless of the lineage, and regardless of the *dubious* "k-zoid" phenotypes of Arab's, Greeks Sicilians et al.

Race is the propaganda noise for children.

Grown folks - including virtually all reputible geneticists...have moved on.

The lemba also have the Y chromosome associated with the jewish priesthood which only a small number of europeans have. What does that tell you about the origins of the jews.

The semetic language shows it's highest diversity in ethiopia what does that tell you about the origins of the semetic languages?
