What are they doing there? They are sure not building China's infrastructure like the Chinese are building Nigera's infrastructure in Nigeria. This is a damn shame! If I were Nigerian, i'd be embarassed.

Now the Chinese will have a real fvcked up view from first hand acct. of Blacks. Yet, Afrocentrists will scratch their heads wondering why and coming up w/all kinds of excuses why such sentiments are felt. And of course they will fault the White man for his [supposed] international propaganda against the Black race. The reality is the Chinese are getting a taste of Blacks.

^I dont think it is an opinion. After-all, the only non-Chinese people over in China doing something that is considered taboo (Protesting the gov') by the Chinese are the Nigerians. They are definitely NOT making friends w/the Chinese populace.

Also, it ain't only in China you find this phenomenon. The African negroes are doing it in Ireland too! This time, they use the anchor babies to attempt to gain Ireland residence http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0LjpkGk5gyY&feature=related It seems this is unique to the Nigerians. Instead of staying their arses in their own country and making something of that sh*thole, they run to the white and Asian nations for a hand-out. And then Afrocentrists expect the world to believe they are the root of civilization?! Uterly preposterous! Just look at the video in the link. African negroes are the only ones doing this! Not even the Mexicans are committing such a shameful & self-hating act. At-least when they come to the states, they come to bust their arses with labor; hard manual labor. But of course, these negroes go to these white or asian countries for handouts.

Well, two things that happen defy any type of explanation, and I have spent a lot of braincells thinking about this:

*Why do we prefer to hand out lucrative contracts to Westerners, when we could hand it to our own brother?

*Why is it Nigerians who do successfuly get these lucrative contracts just refuse to do any work???

Surely, there is some "benefit" even if it's just mental satisfaction to doing a job you've been contracted to do.

Like I said, these things defy explanation. Call me supersticious but I'm beginning to suspect spiritual schenanigans in very high places.

^You are funny dude. You refuse to see the obvious. And the obvious is, African Blacks are are at the lowest on the evolutionary scale of the races. This is in part because of the early human ancestors who remained in situ. They were not exposed to new climates like those ancestors who were brave enough to venture into the unknown world and "ADAPT." Thus they evolved farther than those who remained. The non-Africans owe their advance evolution to their African ancestors who made the trek out of Africa.

You posed a few questions that are simple to answer. Many African countries are rich in natural and mineral resources. Yet these countries hire western countries to extract the wealth. You ask why? It is simple. Africans, in general, do not have the technological know-how to exploit the land. Ask yourself something, why haven't the Blacks built their own automobile or airplane, when it is 2010? I can go on and on with this. But like I said, the answer is right in front of you. You just refuse to admit the obvious.

LOL, get a load of this pseudo-scienific rant. Brace addressed this head on.

quote:
The paleoanthropological record shows that human survival strategies were essentially
identical from the emergence of the genus Homo
approximately 2 million years ago until the adoption of
agriculture within the past 10,000 years or less (Brace
1995, 2000). Since the selective forces relating to human
decision making were of the same magnitude for at least
2 million years, our null hypothesis should be that all
human groups have the same average mental capabilities
despite within-group individual variation (Brace 1999a).
To test such a null hypothesis it would be necessary to
ensure that the groups being tested had recently been
living under conditions of social equality for several generations.
Jensen’s reaction was that the insistence on
such conditions before meaningful research could be undertaken
“would completely preclude the possibility of
researching this important question, not just for several
generations but indefinitely” (Jensen 1971:24). In other
words, he advocated the pursuit of research which he
regarded as “important” even though there was no prospect
that the results could be meaningful compared.
Rushton, for his part, has never even mentioned the
problem of controlling test conditions so that the results
could have any meaning. Instead, he has stressed that
human populations long associated with life in the
colder parts of the world would have had to face challenging
but predictable problems while the subtropical
savannas where humans first evolved were less predictable
but less challenging (1995:7, 228–31). These are just
assertions in the absence of evidence or analysis and
count as analogues to the traditions represented by stories
describing the expulsion from a hypothetical Garden
of Eden. There is no empirical evidence that the North
is more predictable than the African savanna or that it
is more stimulating to the intellect. Northern mice,
foxes, and deer are not better endowed intellectually than
their tropical relatives, and the same is true for virtually
all other animals with arctic and tropical representatives.
Rushton, in making such assumptions, has produced a
classic example of what Stoczkowski has called “anthropologie
naı¨ve” (Stoczkowski 1994). A full-scale antidote
to Rushton’s preconceived and simplistic outlook
is presented as chapter 12, “The Cultural Ecological
Niche,” in my Evolution in an Anthropological View
(Brace 2000).

http://www.cscs.umich.edu/~crshalizi/sloth/lieberman-on-rushton.pdf

Besides, such a claim would make no sense anyways as Africa is extremely diverse climatically and ecologically. In addition, the cold climate theory is further demonstrated as nonsense by the fact that tropically adapted homo sapiens supplanted the cold adapted Neanderthals who even after evolving to a cold climate for 500,000 years, were not fit enough to ultimately last against their tropical counter parts (the only difference between them is where each species adapted; Africa vs. Europe). More ironic is the new study showing non-Africans with Neanderthal admixture and showing more genetic similarity to them than do the African. Decapitates your entire quacked-out argument, doesn't it? Of course it does. [Smile]

One thing forgoten by people is the number of chinese in Nigeria:

Sino-Nigerian Relations: FTZs, Textiles and Oil

Nigeria is rapidly becoming China’s second largest trading partner in Africa, with trade between the two countries reaching over $3 billion in 2006. To gauge the exponential rise in Sino-Nigerian trade relations, one may consider the fact that in 1998 its trade volume was $384 million (AllAfrica.com, April 14, 2006). By 2001, this had reached $1 billion and by 2004, $2 billion. Nigerian exports to China—excluding oil—have quadrupled. Signifying Nigeria’s importance to China, in January 2006, Beijing signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Abuja on the Establishment of a Strategic Partnership. In doing so, Nigeria became the first African country to sign such an agreement with China.

Other anecdotal points emphasize the importance of this bilateral relationship. China’s first scheduled direct flight to Africa was inaugurated on December 31, 2006, when China Southern Airlines Company launched its maiden flight from Beijing to Lagos via Dubai. With some 50,000 Chinese now living in Nigeria and a growing Nigerian diaspora in China , the airline’s service makes commercial sense. In August 2005, Nigeria also began hosting a Chinese newspaper, West African United Business Weekly, the first in West Africa. Such an engagement means that China’s links with Nigeria are qualitatively different from the West’s, and as a result, may potentially produce benefits for the ordinary people of Nigeria.

Nigeria’s Markets

In 2006, China announced that it would invest $267 million to establish the first phase of the Lekki Free Trade Zone (FTZ) in Lagos (People’s Daily, May 9, 2006). Approved by the Chinese government, the Lekki FTZ is the first of its kind that Beijing has constructed overseas. Eventually, the project aims to cover 150 square kilometers with a total investment of $5 billion. Of course, as with other announced Chinese projects in Africa, whether or not Nigeria will ever see a 15 square kilometer FTZ in Lagos where 300,000 Nigerians are employed is a matter of speculation, if not skepticism.

Yet, any development of the FTZ will have to confront the growing concern regarding Chinese work practices. According to a Nigerian report, "Chinese companies are notorious for their tendency to bring in their own workers as opposed to hiring locally. Local content has no meaning to the Chinese-run companies. This policy does not in any way address issues of unemployment in the host nations. Safety standards within their industries are another area of concern. The fire incident at a Chinese-owned industry in Ikorodu Town, Lagos State revealed that it was standard practice to lock the workers in while on duty. In this particular case, this policy hindered the workers escape route from the fire and resulted in many of them losing their lives" (This Day [Lagos], February 15). Considering the infamous corrupt tendencies of Nigerian government officials, however, it is probable that safety inspectors were bribed to look the other way. There are, nevertheless, genuine issues surrounding Chinese labor practices, in Nigeria as elsewhere in Africa.

The flooding of Nigerian markets with cheap Chinese products, undermining the country’s commercial operations, has also become a politically sensitive issue. For example, the enormous influx of inexpensive Chinese textiles has resulted in the shrinking of Nigeria's domestic textile industries as Nigerian fabrics have been unable to compete with their Chinese counterparts. As General Secretary of the Textile, Tailoring and Garment Union Issa Aremu notes, the mass importation of textiles—both second-hand from Europe and new garments, mostly from China—has led to the closing of 65 Nigerian textile mills and the laying off of a total of 150,000 textile workers over the past ten years (Koinonia International, February 15, 2005). Aremu also claims that more than one million others whose jobs are linked to the textile industry, such as traders and cotton farmers, have also lost their means of livelihood because of the closures.

Investing in Nigeria’s Oil

As Africa’s leading oil producer and the eleventh largest oil producer worldwide, Nigeria has a light, low sulfur grade of oil known as “sweet crude,” which is valued for its high gasoline content and relatively cheap processing outlay. Until recently, China had been completely excluded from Nigeria’s oil industry by an established presence of Western oil companies in Nigeria. This is rapidly changing, however, through a mix of canny Chinese diplomacy and sweetener development deals.

With regard to specific Chinese oil contracts in Nigeria, in October 2004, it was stated that Nigeria needed an annual investment of $10 billion in order to reach a proven reserve of 40 billion barrels by 2010 (People's Daily, April 20, 2005). Consequently, PetroChina signed an agreement with the Nigerian government to locate upstream oil and gas assets that might be incorporated into downstream projects. In July 2005, PetroChina signed an $800 million contract that guaranteed 30,000 barrels per day to China over a five-year period, to be renewed every year (Xinhua, July 9, 2005). Building on such developments, in April 2006, the Nigerian government offered China four oil exploration licenses in exchange for $4 billion worth of investment in Nigeria’s infrastructure.

The two countries then signed seven development agreements granting Abuja export credit worth $500 million (Reuters, April 27, 2006). China agreed to repair the Kaduna Refining and Petrochemicals Company, while undertaking other investment projects, such as building a hydropower plant in the Mambila, Plateau State. In return for this, China was permitted to exercise the “right of first refusal” on oil blocs. China National Offshore Oil Corporation (CNOOC) has also taken over the commitments of a contractor of a deepwater bloc that had earlier been assigned to South Atlantic Petroleum Limited, a company owned by a former Nigerian Defense Minister, Theophilus Danjuma (People's Daily, January 10, 2006). Reflecting the ties between politics and oil in Nigeria, Danjuma immediately took steps in Nigeria's courts to negate the deal. Claiming that his company’s acreage had been revoked for political reasons linked to his non-support for then President Olusegun Obasanjo’s attempt to change the Nigerian constitution and run for a third term, Danjuma's case was brought before the Federal High Court, which ruled in favor of Obasanjo’s government.

There have been indications that Sino-African ties in the oil sector have not been progressing as smoothly as initially thought. In March 2007, it was announced that the Nigerian Government was reconsidering its plans to hand over the management of the Kaduna refinery to CNOOC given that Chinese promises to invest in the refinery had not materialized. Director General of the Bureau of Public Enterprises Irene Chigbue stated that the plan to get CNOOC to manage the Kaduna refinery, which produces 110,000 barrels per day, "[ran] into hitches as the CNOOC have not been forthcoming with the takeover plans" (This Day, March 6). Indeed, the Chinese had initially agreed to manage the Kaduna refinery as a pre-condition to winning oil blocks for which Chinese companies were bidding. Chigbue added, “The arrangement which was tied to oil block allocation as a result of the peculiar nature of the refinery, which requires heavy investment, was being considered for review as the Chinese firm had not shown appreciable interest….No appreciable progress had been made since the allocation took place" (Vanguard, March 6). Such a situation is particularly important for Nigeria—and threatens to sour Sino-Nigerian relations—as Abuja is desperate to offload its former public enterprises to competent management.

Other problems in Sino-Nigerian relations also revolve around the oil industry and threaten to undermine the bilateral links and the “win-win” situation that Beijing boasts about in its discussions of Sino-African ties. In particular, the security situation surrounding the oil industry in the Niger Delta is becoming increasingly problematic. Nigerian militants from the Movement for the Emancipation of the Niger Delta (MEND) have warned Chinese companies to "stay well clear" of the Niger Delta or risk facing attacks. They have also claimed responsibility for a car bomb attack near the port town of Warri, stating that the blast was "a warning against Chinese expansion in the region" and that "the Chinese government, by investing in stolen crude, places its citizens in our line of fire" (Financial Times, May 1, 2006). Complaining of Washington's tardiness in offering security assistance in the form of personnel and hardware, Nigeria has turned to China for military assistance to protect its oil fields. Given that Nigerian security forces are responsible for "politically motivated killings; the use of lethal force against suspected criminals and hostage-seizing militants in the Niger Delta; beatings and even torture of suspects, detainees, and convicts; and extortion of civilians," as well as "child labor and prostitution, and human trafficking," Washington’s reluctance to provide such elements with further supplies is perhaps understandable [1]. China, however, needs little compulsion to sell weapons to such actors and is able to fill the gap left by the hesitant Western nations.

Conclusion

Even as China is becoming heavily involved in Nigeria’s oil industry, Chinese companies are also penetrating other spheres of Nigeria’s economy. In the process, unlike most other foreign actors in the country, they are investing in fixed assets, such as refineries and factories, with the intention of developing a long-term economic relationship. Consequently, stability and good governance in Nigeria is advantageous for Beijing because it is the only way to guarantee that Chinese interests are protected. In such circumstances, the task for the West and for Nigerian civil society is to engage Beijing by cooperating in areas where mutual interests converge and work to advance the well-being of the Nigerian people as a whole.

Gigantic,
The usual insular ignorance. Those Nigerians in China are hardly there looking for some handout. They are probably mostly Ibos who are there to purchase first hand Chinese products then sell them to visiting Nigerians who would then transport them back to Nigeria. This kinda beats direct China-Nigeria trade.

I want to assume that the Chinese authorities want to curb this trade and come down hard periodically on the Nigerians. The goal, of course, is intimidation--so as to curb the business inroads made by the Nigerians.

But the Nigerians have a big ace in this situation. There are Chinese businesses in Nigeria and all over West Africa. They could easily be driven out in retaliatory fashion. So China has more to lose here.

Confirming Truth
Your points are just absurd. The people who have the furthest out of Africa, i.e. the Native Americans who travelled out of Africa eastwards across Asia--then over the Siberian land bridge all the way down to Argentina are almost extinct now--being slaugtered right and left, miscegenated by invader whites, and literally worked to death by the invader whites. The same for the Australian Aboriginese and Tasmanians. They are now almost extinct thanks to the slaughters, rapes and habitat theft by the whites as they rampaged into what is now Australia. Same for the Maori.

Furthermore, Africa is about 20-25% of the world's land masses, and Africans have travelled to and populated its 4 corners, so to say that blacks have not travelled far and wide is just silly.

To save your intellectual soul I suggest you stop reading the silly quackery of crackpot Rushton and Richard Lynn.

You're a bigot, but worst, a stupid uninformed bigot.

Chinese migrate to the USA in droves daily.
It is a part of the brain drain you SHOULD be hearing about IF you happened to read.

The Chinese migrate to the US following college, take an advanced degree and work in America before returning to China 5-10-20 years later to apply what they've learned.

Africans have been migrating to China for education for Millinia, Centuries, and decades. In fact, they migrated there and fully understood the culture well before Europe's Marco Polo even existed. Even following Polo's visit, Europeans still lacked cultural understanding and could no comprohend the level of Chinese technology. LOL, the English called it, Magic, while Africans understood it all!

Like the Chinese, they obtain a degree, work, learn the culture before returning to Africa, or maybe moving to the UK or America.
Brain drain is a real phenomena that is common in today's world, and both sides benefit.

From Reuters:
LONDON
Mon Apr 12, 2010 4:38pm EDT

Like India and China, Africa suffers from a "hemorrhage of talent," the report said, with many of its best brains leaving to study abroad and failing to return.

"The African diaspora provides powerful intellectual input to the research achievements of other countries, but returns less benefit to the countries of birth," Jonathan Adams, director of research evaluation at Thomson Reuters, said in a statement as the report was published.

More information about the report is available here

Adams and colleagues, who use a Thomson Reuters database to track scientific publications, found that three nations dominate Africa's research output -- with South Africa leading by a long way, ahead of Egypt in second place and then Nigeria.

"Africa's overall volume of activity remains small, much smaller than is desirable if the potential contribution of its researchers is to be realized for the benefit of its populations," said Adams.

The report found that part of the problem was down to a "chronic lack of investment in facilities for research and teaching" -- a deficit the authors said must be remedied.

Adams said the reason behind this was not simply money: "The resources available in some African countries are substantial, but they are not being invested in the research base."

In fields of research relevant to natural resources, however, the study found a relatively high representation of African research as a share of world publications.

THE AFRICAN BRAIN DRAIN: USING INTELLECTUAL DIASPORA TO MANAGE THE DRAIN: WHAT ARE THE OPTIONS?

PRESENTATION TO THE ASSOCIATION OF AFRICAN UNIVERSITIES (AAU),

CONFERENCE OF RECTORS, VICE CHANCELLORS AND PRESIDENTS OF AFRICAN UNIVERSITIES (COREVIP)

By

Dr. Patrick Onsando Ph.D

Moi University

Eldoret Kenya

CONTEXT

* Because of low training capacity, a large proportion of Africans are still trained outside Africa, exposing them to the challenge of the Brain drain.
* Millions of Africa Science and technology experts are stuck in western countries as part of this brain drain.
* According to the International Organization for Migration (IOM), Africa has already lost one third of its human capital and is continuing to lose its skilled personnel at an increasing rate, with an estimated 20,000 doctors, university lecturers, engineers and other professional leaving the continent annually since 1990.
* There are currently over 300,000 highly qualified Africans in the Diaspora, 30,000 of which have PhDs.
* Africa spends US$4 billion per year (representing 35% of total official development aid to the continent) to employ some 100,000 Western experts performing functions generically described as technical assistance.
* Africa as a whole counts only 20,000 scientists (3.6% percent of the world total) and its share in the world’s scientific output has fallen from 0.5% to 0.3% as it continues to suffer the brain drain of scientists, engineers and technologists.

CONTEXT

* The problem of brain drain has reached quite disturbing proportions in certain African countries, with Ethiopia ranked first in the continent in terms of rate of loss of human capital, followed by Nigeria and Ghana.
* Ethiopia lost about 74.6% of its human capital from various institutions between 1980 and 1991.
* While Ethiopia has 1 full-time economics professor, there are more than 100 Ethiopian economists in the United States.
* According to the estimates of the Presidential Committee on Brain Drain set up in 1988 by the Babangida administration, Nigeria, between 1986 and 1990, lost over 10,000 academics from tertiary education institutions alone.
* Total estimates, including those who left public, industrial and private organizations, are over 30,000. 64% of Nigerians in the United States aged 25 and older have at least a bachelor’s degree.
* The Zimbabwe National Association of Social Workers estimates that 1,500 of the country’s 3,000 trained social workers left for the United Kingdom over the past 10 years.
* African countries are funding the education of their nationals only to see them end up contributing to the growth of developed countries with little or no return on their investment.
* In Kenya, for example, it costs about US$40,000 to train a doctor and US$10,000-15,000 to educate a university student for 4 years.
* The health sector is particularly affected; indeed, desperate shortage of health professionals is the most serious obstacle as Africa tries to fight AIDS and support other health programs.
* Kenya loses on average 20 medical doctors each month.
* Ghana lost 60% of its medical doctors in the 1980s, 600 to 700 Ghanaian physicians are currently practicing in the USA alone, a figure that represents roughly 50% of the total population of doctors in Ghana.

Some interesting excerpts from an article on Nigerians in China:
_______________________________________

"They don't like black people to stay in China any more. They want us to go," said Frank, one of the Nigerians at the protest on July 15 that was filmed by witnesses.

"They treat us like animals," added Frank, an illegal overstayer, who wouldn't give his name for fear of reprisals.

The spontaneous protest -- a rare direct confrontation between foreigners and authorities in China -- is a vivid reminder of the challenges faced by Beijing's stability-obsessed Communist Party as it engages with the world and builds up trade links abroad.

In the past few years, tens of thousands of African and Arab traders have thronged to export hubs like Guangzhou and Yiwu in eastern China to seek their fortunes -- sourcing cheap China-made goods back home to massive markups in a growing, lucrative trade.

But just as mass Chinese immigration abroad has fanned recent social tensions in Africa and other places, the influx of large numbers of foreigners, particularly Africans, into China is altering the social fabric of cities like Guangzhou and proving a headache to authorities.

While this rising tide of foreigners has brought vast economic gains, the edgy cosmopolitanism of melding cultures and liberal ideals has been laced with racial and social tensions, along with the problem of illegal overstayers resorting to crime.

"While most black people are engaged in valuable trading activities, others are staying illegally, working without valid permits or smuggling," said Peng Peng, the research director of the Guangzhou Academy of Social Sciences, a provincial thinktank.

"How to manage this is becoming a very big problem."

Some neighbourhood committees bar Africans from living in residential complexes, while Internet forums such as Tianya buzz with heated, at times xenophobic, discussions of "black person" issues in the city.

"A lot of Chinese don't like Africans, but there's nothing we can do. They're flooding into Guangzhou," wrote one blogger on Tianya. Others blamed the immigrants for problems from drug peddling and petty theft, to the spread of HIV among prostitutes.

In numerous interviews with African traders and illegal overstayers in the city, frustrations at restrictive and inconsistent visa policies have risen, exacerbating the plight of Africans opting to stay on expired visas to keep their businesses flowing, and thereby avoid costly flights home and back again.

"It's very rough," said Emeka Ven Chukwu, a 30-year-old Nigerian based in Guangzhou. "It's been happening for a long time. Even before the Olympics, it has been very difficult to extend (visas)."

Resentment towards the police has also grown amid the recent spate of overnight raids and perceptions of corruption.

"They just want to arrest you, collect money, then arrest you again," said Paul Omoshola, a Nigerian businessman in Guangzhou.

Visa extensions, seen as critical for traders and fixers to stay beyond the usual 30-day visa period -- while difficult to obtain through official channels -- can be arranged relatively easily through Chinese agents for large fees of $2,000 (1,200 pounds) upwards.

Ademola Oladele, a spokesman at the Nigerian Embassy in Beijing, noted the need for authorities to crack down on illegal overstayers. But he also expressed concern at the recent police raid that sparked such anger among hundreds of Nigerians.

"If there is any clamping down on illegal immigrants it's fine. That's their law. But it should not be done in an inhumane way or a way that could affect a life," said Oladele.

STILL DOING BUSINESS

Sino-Africa trade exceeded the $100 billion mark last year, a jump of 45 percent on the year before, fuelled at one end by China's demand for Africa's energy and natural resources, and Africa's love of cheap Chinese goods at the other.

Despite all the problems facing Africans hoping to lay deeper roots in Guangzhou, securing short-term visas for events like the Canton Fair, Asia's top trade fair, is comparatively easy.

"It's a piece of cake," said Nampewo Sylivia, a young single businesswoman from Uganda happily browsing clumps of wigs made from real and fake hair at the Canaan Wholesale Trading Centre.

"It's still far easier to get a China visa than an American one," she added.

While African traders say business has fallen sharply this year given a slump in African demand during the downturn and sliding exchange rates, many remain drawn to China's potential.

"China produces nearly everything that you need in the world, said Omoshola, the Nigerian trader who was also at the protest.

"We are still here doing business," he added.

Anti-Black racism in China

Erin Chung:

From December 1988 to January 1989, students in Nanjing, China waged violent protests against visiting African students. These protests became the precursor to the nationwide pro-democracy movement in the spring of 1989, which resulted in the massacre of Chinese students by armed troops in Tiananmen Square. Displaying an uneven combination of racial tension, nationalism, and reformism, the Nanjing protests fused mass hostility toward visiting African students with official nationalist discourse to create the momentum for a popular movement for political change. At the same time, they marked the denouement of China's proclaimed leadership of the "Third World" with long-term consequences for Sino-African relations. Yet, these protests were neither isolated events, as the Chinese government claimed, nor simply outbreaks of general xenophobia directed at all foreigners. Frank Dikötter has traced various discourses of race in China from the late nineteenth century based on myths of origins, ideologies of blood, and narratives of biological descent that have been central to the cultural construction of Chinese identity. Barry Sautman attributes the rise of anti-Africanism among the Chinese intelligentsia in the reform era (1978-present) to the return of racial stereotyping and elitist values dating back to Imperial China that link and denigrate those who are dark and those who are poor.

Hostility and violence against visiting African students had erupted for various reasons since their arrival in 1960 as part of a government-sponsored program that provided full scholarships for nationals of friendly countries. Following its rise to power in 1949, the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) abolished the official discourse of race and embarked upon an intensive campaign to establish close ties with the newly independent African nations. As early as 1955, Premier Zhou Enlai declared that racism was uniquely absent in China. Friendly relations with Africa and African-descended peoples were central to the CCP's "Third World" coalition during the 1960s. Mao Zedong proclaimed that the Chinese would lead the historical struggle against "white imperialism," linking the problem of class with that of race in foreign policy. In the early 1960s, small groups of African students arrived in China with full scholarships and relatively generous stipends compared to those of their Chinese counterparts. However, most of the students returned home within a year or two due to poor living standards, lack of social opportunities, and the politicized environment of the Mao years. According to an account by a Ghanaian who studied in China during the 1960s, African students regularly encountered racial discrimination by their Chinese hosts, although racial hostility was the least important reason for their return.

The Chinese government restored the African scholarship program in the mid-1970s and began sending African students to universities outside of Beijing. As China opened itself to the capitalist world market with a series of reforms initiated by Deng Xiaoping from 1978, its Third World identity became little more than a propaganda tool. In contrast to official statements supporting revolutionary movements in Africa and the civil rights movement in the United States in the 1960s, the CCP in the late 1970s and 1980s markedly downplayed Third World themes in the media. In addition, local authorities often excused, and sometimes justified, anti-African prejudice among Chinese students. For example, the Shanghai incident of July 1979 was triggered by complaints of loud music played by African students and culminated in an attack of the foreign student hall in which the African students lived. Although Chinese press commentaries admitted that the Chinese students attacked the African students, they also implied that "drunken and womanizing" Africans were prone to troublemaking. Moreover, contact between African men and Chinese women was the source of numerous clashes between Chinese and African students in the 1980s as well as the grounds for arrests and deportations of Africans.

The Nanjing protests in December 1988 were triggered by a series of confrontations between African and Chinese students at Hehai University. The conflict intensified on December 24 when two African male students who were escorting two Chinese women to a Christmas Eve party on campus were stopped at the front gate and ordered to register their guests. A new university regulation that restricted registration procedures for guests visiting foreign students had been implemented in October of that year to stop African male students from consorting with Chinese women in their dormitories. A quarrel between one of the African students and the Chinese security guard escalated into a brawl between African and Chinese students that lasted until the next morning and resulted in the injury of eleven Chinese and two Africans. On the next day, 300 Chinese students, angered by a rumor that a Chinese man had been killed by an African student the previous evening, stormed the African students' dormitory chanting, "Kill the Black Devils!" The police arrived to restore order two hours later. Fearing for their safety, over 60 African students left for the railway station to reach their embassies in Beijing. Local authorities prevented them from boarding the trains in order to retain those involved in the Christmas Eve brawl. In response, about 140 foreign students, including other African students in Nanjing and a dozen non-African foreign students, sat-in at the train station to demand that they be allowed to board a train for Beijing.

LOL, whites students earn pocket money by dealing in Pot, Meth and Shrooms, so why can't Africans students earn a little dough by running street stalls?
In fact, I dated an African student here in the US who did just that;
Ran a street stall selling things she made with $5 worth of material that she sold on the street to Whites for $35-$50. She usually cleared around $800-$900/week.
