Charles Doughty in his 1888 book, Travels in Arabia Deserta, describes the Hudhal of Hijaz whom he calls “Hatheyl” living in the mountains between Mecca and al-Ta’if to the north and in the Marr al Zahran - including the Laheyan clan of Hatheyl. He calls them a people whose “skins were black and shining”. See p. 535, Travels in Arabia Deserta, 1933 Edition. Banu Lehyan, whose ancient civilization is called "Lihyanite" were named according to some scholars after the Biblical Lehi. See Discovering Lehi: New Evidence of Lehi and Nephi in Arabia. lynn Hilton 1996. In Arabian genealogy Hudhayl bin Mudrika is brother of Khuzaima bin Mudrika whose son is Kinana bin Khuzaima(Kanaan). Lehi belonged to the tribe of Manasseh. This tribe in Arabia is today known Manasse'ir, Manassir or Mansur depending on the region. The most famous tribes of Mansur are Sulaym, Soleim or Soleym bin Mansur and Hawazin bin Mansur a group of Arabians described as the black tribes inhabiting el Harra and Medina taking Byzantine women as concubines. See al Jahiz 9th century, in Al- Fakhr al- Sudan min al-Abyadh. The genealogy of Suleym or Sulaym, Mazin and Hawazin are that they were the children of Mansur (Manasseh) son of Ikrima ( Kirama of Ezra 2:26) bin Khasafa (Hasupha or Chasupha of Ezra 2:43).
