The link between North American Native Americans is probably via R1-M173. This is not a surprise because Africans spread R1-M173 among native Americans, See:

I don't doubt that in the future dna tribal analysis may bring to light the African genes in some of the very dark-skinned native tribes. Some of them after all are very black in color. The same color as Africans.

Two Pawnee men below.

Look they had the same hairstyles too. [Big Grin]

Some of this dna tribes stuff is going to get them in trouble one day. [Smile]

In addition to intermarriage among Native American (NA) and Sub-Saharan African (SSA) populations in the Northeastern and Southern USA, there was considerable intermarriage among NA and SSA in the Midwest. In Minnesota, for example, in 1819 at the mouth of the St. Louis River, there were SSA living in Ojibwa villages.

This is interesting because those NA groups with the highest frequencies of the R1 y-chromosome include the Ojibwe (79%).

Mating between NA and SSA may explain the presence of R1-M173 among the Ojibwa.

They don't talk about Olmec DNA, only Mayan.
