I just came back from my first visit to Cairo. Was there two weeks and it was wonderful. Got to see lots of the city and close suburbs (Giza, Heliopolis, Ismailia).

I'm going back again in December around Christmastime. Can you recommend any daytrips, places that are a bit outside Cairo but not a need to stay overnight?

I should also be going to Alexandria at least for a long weekend...anything around there?

Thanks!

Ain El Sukhna has a great beach, warm weather even in december and is close enough to cairo for a day trip!
