I recommend this Makan place. I went last week in Cairo (its in Downtown - next to the Saad Zaghoul mausoleum - very small venue) - saw the Mawawil group. It was very enjoyable and the egy HH enjoyed it very much, said that he hadn't seen this sort of live music (basically, egyptian folk) for many years - only on TV. I think they perform every other week.
