A good idea would be to check on the Egyptian Embassy/Consulate in your country's website as there are several different ways of gaining residency either through work or marriage, and as there maybe slightly different rules for different countries it would be wise to check there first.

Only if you are married to an Egyptian or have a work permit, you can have a 5 year residency visa in Egypt.
