My sister's having a baby in a few months & she's trying to think of girls' baby names that are both western and egyptian (like Sarah for example). or nice egyptian names that are easy to pronounce properly when said in english.
any ideas?

Yes, Samia, you are totally right. I would never call f. e. my new dog Ali (I am planning on to get a second doggie ) knowing I am going to live in an Islamic country. I truly understand that people would react very defensive.

I always thought that MONA was the abreviature for MONICA. Is it true? It is normal in Egypt to call MONA a girl called Monika?
I personally love Zaynab and Aisha, two Naguib Mahfuz Cairo trilogy characters;-)
Thanks!

Perhaps, I do not know. They do not remind me of anything, but it's been quite some time since I heard this name. Whatsoever, you know better than me, so I accept what you say Thank you

(sorry)
That's why I never mention my "daughter's" name to strangers. I think I am the only Egyptian who has chosen this name for her daughter. It should be totally Arabic, but people seem to be not creative enough to realize it, but it's also Hebrew and Western in the same time. Just like my name.
I also never mention the first and second names of my children as a combination. They are too nice to be spread around.
I hate it when people steal names!
