It is very interesting to hear what women wants .. I would like to state my opnion which my upset some here yet I think I'd state it.
I don't think that women are equal to men but for sure they are equivelant and they have some virtues over men in some things, I totally agree with that, not a compliment but truely they are better than men in a lot of things "socially they are better and they think better in some situation when under no pressure and some situaions" .. but they are not men .. although I am sure that they have the same soul, but I believe that the body has effect on the evolution of yourself, and because women are different than men physically, so they evolute in a different way a beautiful way though ..
Women say they are equal but what actually the want is to take the privilages of being women and men without donating any of there rights .. sure women had been abused but they are abused in west and east .. unlike what some women say the majority of women are abused .. in west in some cases women are just a selling item or a sold item, u can see women half naked on a match box .. on the other side "in the west also" there is women that are actually men they simply loose there fimenist, they have different organs but they are men, and of course still there are women that like being women and knows what the word means and may be they are the majority but they are misjudged by both of the other examples .. in East women rights had been abused in many ways, women rights have been removed, still there are women that can take there rights and currently they are taking both rights women's and men's .. I only don't want women to overtake there rights as a reflex to the unequality and the abusement .. I dunno women you are women not men .. it is a great thing that you like you kind, you have something good, men also have something good and they should like there kind it is strange what going on, god made women women, they get pregnant they have those hearts of purity, if he wanted he might made the human kind only one kind and reproduction can be like any primitive specie .. so what do u want women, and what men think

I agree, men and women *are* different.

To me, *equality* means that a woman has the opportunity and the right to do anything she is mentally and physically capable of doing. It doesn't mean a woman becomes a man.

If that means being president of a country, so be it. If it means being a housewife, then that's great too. 100 years ago in the US, women didn't become lawyers. IMO, a woman is as capable of being a lawyer as a man. Sometimes more capable, by bringing compassion to the table in addition to brains. [Wink]

There is always obligation to family, but I feel both men and women have this obligation. If a woman is married, then I think the husband and wife make the decisions *together* about what both partners are going to do in life. Who will work? Both? Who has the higher paying job? Who stays home? Who picks up the kid when sick?

Have you lived in the West? If yes, in which country and for how long? Are these your personal observations or just things you've read?

I don't know, bibo, it seems to me you are stereotyping and just repeating phrases you have heard or read, for example the one with the *half naked woman on a matchbox* ... I just recently read that on some Islamic site.

And I don't believe the theory that *women lose their femininity* when they demand equal rights. To me that's just a stupid phrase from people who want to determine how other people should live their life ...

Btw, we had a discussion about this before:

why women = men in the west

I lived in the west, and it is a stereotype I heard and I have seen, I lived in Newcastle, England for more than 2 yrs, in Manchester NH USA for 1 yr, I went to Barcelone for approx. a month, Brag in Chic republic for 3 weeks, Frankfort Holland for 6 months, I have videos of that I might send it as well if you want I have some views on my mobile .. I didn't mingle a lot sure I didn't have time and I can't live this life style, in newcastle across the Tyne people where actually doing it in daytime .. it is the truth and I have seen it

OK. So could you clarify what exactly you mean with those statements:

there is women that are actually men they simply loose there fimenist, they have different organs but they are men

I don't really understand which point you're trying to make.

If women were running the middle east we would have far fewer problems. Its time for some of you guys to wake up and smell the coffee. This is 2006, not 1806.

WHAT? After reading ur post I can only quote ur words: "I don't think that women are equal to men". U perhaps are not............ Women are more than that. Sorry.
I agree that differences between sexes exist but it has nothing in common with equality.
Anyway, a new thought to take into consideration. [Big Grin]

What I can't grasp is the fact that men and women are equal in the eyes of God, but socially amongst humankind women are socially below men.

Going back and reading early jurist opinions on the matter of equality between the sexes it seems to me that the Umma only reverts back to its pre-Islamic social inequities between the sexes to distinguish themselves from westerners.

So while they are trying not to mimic the west they behave and think unIslamic in order to save themselves from the ills of the west.

My isn't progress wonderful?

And also possibly because they are impotent?

I notice alot of male-chauvanist pigs are impotent.

My father is thee most feminist guy I know, but he is also a ragging sex alholic. Yes, Dalia lower your head and wonder why I said that. But he is, and not proud of it, but it was something that drove my parents apart.

MK noted in a thread somewhere that Egyptian men have major impotency issues. And looking at some very old medical/philosophy/astrology manuals from the Ummyiad (sp?) age most 'medical' treatments were about male impotency. This particular era undid massive improvments of the Abbassiyiad age (sp?).

I think I need to learn how to spell the different Islamic eras correctly. [Embarrassed]

You just took the words right out of my hands. Its amazing how very "active" men seem to be less threatened or concerned about the power or freedom of their mates.

Think about the development of this particular breed of misogyny in areas in the North of big bad Africa.

Horemheb, its actually 1426 [Big Grin]

Also, the Women Equal Right is to be topless in the beach, or in home or in any place. Because the women have the same parts of top body like the man. It is the ONLY difference is the size only. And these NOT a Reason to make the women cover their top.
