TOOT Suite :) Member # 14248	posted Satan I think 'living to the full' means different things to different people like western women who are married to western men who live the 'ex pat' life, who socialise little with other Egyptians in their home setting. western women single who live the ex pat life western women single who live like the Egyptians ( traditional ). western women single who mix with westernised Egyptian men. western women married to egyptian men ( who live very western ways) and not traditionally ie in the resorts, men who drink alcohol, sit in mixed company in public places a lot, go to bars, clubs, take wives to belly dancing clubs etc. western women married to Egyptian men who dont drink alcohol but sit with other men in cafes all night and day long with other males leaving the wife at home. western women who are married to egyptian men who are traditional ie who dont drink alcohol or go to clubs, and only mix with close female friends of the wife and family, and dont bring male friends to the home. They can all live life to the full but each very differently.

TOOT Suite :) Member # 14248	posted well take for instance me, I am in the last category so my life would be different from the rest. What do you mean by ' to the full' ? Describe your life experiences and I can see if ours differ.

I live in Alexandria the other seven million people living here might give you different answers. How you live depends on your job, your financial situation,your religious views and of course the choices you make. So what do you want to know? How to rent an apartment? HOw to find a job. Specific questions for specific answers. I love the people and hate the traffic.
Ayisha Member # 4713	posted Im in Luxor and I can tell you what a bloody farce it was to get a phone line in!! Hubby was told 1 month, inshaAllah After 1 month he called, they said Luxor had 'run out of numbers' and had to wait for some to come from cairo. (how? train, plane, donkey?)They said 2 weeks inshaAllah. After 2 weeks he calls again, has a very LOUD conversation and gets the manager. They have numbers now, go make the contract, so off he goes. Comes back and says 1 week inshaAllah. after 1 week he calls again, gets manager, manager says bokra inshaAllah!! Yippee i thinks...nah Hubby calls every day for a week then he goes to the office. Manager calls engineers who say 'we dont like that area!' manager gets angry and tells them to do it (I live in a nice area!) he says bokra, bard bokra maximum, inshaAllah. bokra comes and nothing bard bokra comes and nothing, so we on our way to the office with ME to kick off as well, 2 guys on push bikes arrive as we get outside. Alhamdulillah! One stays downstairs, other comes up to flat. Man in flat passes long cable to man downstairs then trails cable through bedroom, pulls off about 10 more metres and bites off the end. Man in flat then runs downstairs as man downstairs is only qualified to hold the cable. Man connects cable to box...................and leaves! hubby comes up to flat all smiles, I say 'where has he gone? what am i supposed to do with this?' Hubby says 'you wanted phone line, you have phone line!' silly me thought it would be somehow connected to the socket on the wall or even just a plug on the end so I could plug it into my pc, noooooooo just a cable with bare wires. So now it is still trailed through the bedroom from the balcony and has another cable someone gave me with a plug on the end and they are joined by me wrapping the wires together!

Ayisha Member # 4713	posted I know!! another fun time was while our flat was being finished. Someone has to 'watch over' the workers or they have too many tea breaks like all day ones. So there I am, sat on an upturned paint tin, 3 guys painting the walls, ceiling, each other and my lovely floor tiles while another 3 doing the windows. They had made the windows a few days before, 3 parts, outside bit with slats, inside big bit with mozzy mesh that opens fully, inside inner bit with glass but there was no glass at that point, and then they had taken them all off again to paint. I have 4 windows APPROX same size-ish. All the windows were made to fit in a particular place. so they take them all off, put them all in the kitchen, and paint them. While they are painting them they are getting them all mixed up as to where they should go. So here I am on the paint tin and bodgit and scarper and co are trying to fit the windows back in place. Of course they wouldnt 'fit' properly now because they mixed them up but they think its because they have painted them, so they shave off the paint with a plane till they do fit!
