ramadan kareem could it be a part time job? i would like only to work 3 days a week ,where is the american academy exactly?i feel its more comfortable if ijust teach ppl directly without any involvements from an org as both of us can be more flexible on deciding times , i feel any org will need a full time worker and i cant as i am studying and managing my shop

egyptian7 - The American embassy is in the same street as the British embassy, I think the area is called Garden City. I am sure someone will correct me if I am wrong.

Have you not thought about advertising in newspapers specifically aimed at ex-pats or what about international schools, maybe some of the parents would be interested.

Good luck in your search.

As for guiding ppl while on vacation in Egypt . . . don't you need to get a guide permit?? I thought the tourist police frowned on just anyone guiding foreigners around in Egypt???

Besides, I think there are a lot of guides that have studied just to become guides and already work hard at it . . . so why do you want to undercut other ppl's hard work???

If you are seen with foreigners at tourists sites it's likely you would be asked for your guides license or ID or whatever it is they carry. I'm not Egyptian but since for some reason people think I am, they tend to ask me for my ID when I'm with foreign friends.

If you are looking for part time work and you're not looking for money, then why not help out needy Egyptians... especially during Ramadan. I'm sure there are no end of places which would love volunteers to deliver food bags, visit orphanages and play with the kids ( Resala has a good program for this) among other things. You could also teach Arabic to poor students who can't afford the private tuition fees.

As cbrbddd said above, it's not a good idea to take away the livelihood of guides who have studied for this field and need this work... especially during these times when prices are rising and it's difficult enough making a decent income as it is.

Do something useful and get thawab at the same time.... fikra helwa mish keda? [Wink]

Why not align yourself with a westerner who gives tours to other westerners?

There is a welcoming committee who gives orientations to new expats for $125 for a full day session in Maadi. Give them a call with a business plan of how you can improve their service with your expertise.

Market yourself, but to do so you must figure out what you have to offer.

For claiming to have soo many friends you look always extremely bored.
Go help the really needy, there's never enough for them.
Why you insist sooo much they should be from ES?

Esso, so do not call it as 'guding', what you call is 'escorting'.

You should know better than me that, becoming a guide is a very hard thing in Egypt and guiding tourist releated with the diploma, not with a good family.

You call it as part-time work, than mentioning that it is gonna be just for helping ??????

Esoo come on!!!! You are a very very young man, do not spend your time here like the old ladies like us [Big Grin]

You need to figure this one out on your own.

I could send you links for downloading ebooks in order to study the rudimentary skills needed, but my ex never even glanced at the materials I gave him.

I wrote 5 business plans for Arab and Egyptian small business owners here, 2 of them used the plans in order to secure a business loan and line of credit and walked away with more than he asked for.

Both numb skulls left the USA in a fury of lawsuits they were doomed to lose.

No matter how many ideas and suggestions you gather on ES it won't make a difference. You need to do this yourself.

Go speak to vendors down at Khan Khalliel (don't know the spelling I've never been there), ask other Egyptians about their business practices who provide similar services, ask the countless tourism employees who are on this forum.

One thing I do know is Egyptian guys barely listen to and acknowledge the sage business advice of Egyptian women, northerner's advice is heeded far less.

Pretending to have ultioristic motives isn't going to bring you a foreign wife any faster.

Declare exactly what your intentions are and what you want and the honesty will attract a serious woman who seriously wants marriage.

Games will only bring you game players.

Males (human) don't get passed the adolescent stage until they are in their 40s.

Or until they realize the fruit of their loins are vastly superior and are the only hope this world has.

Yep, DB, men don't get out the adolescent stage until much later than women . . . of course, i think most people (men and women both) are not really adults until their 30's at the very least . . . and that probably applies doubly for some Egyptian men we know, lol!!!

actually maturity isnt all at the age ,i.e its not a direct relationship and 2nd having a different life style doesnt mean immaturity ,but i guess some members here dont accept the different cultures or life style
