4 reasons to consider dating an older woman
[Big Grin]
By Bob Strauss

It's time to officially retire "The Graduate" as the emblematic movie about the joys (and terrors) of dating an older woman. Today's Mrs. Robinson is no longer an unhappy, chain-smoking, predatory housewife — in fact; she's more likely to be a sleek, fit, well-adjusted entrepreneur with plenty to offer a young man on the prowl. Here are four good reasons to date up toward the Baby Boom, rather than down toward Generation Y.

You'll be part of a national trend
According to the Bureau of Statistics Created for Guys Who Write Dating Columns (BSCGWWDC), more and more women are choosing to date younger men — and, as a logical corollary, more and more younger men are choosing to date older women. Granted, not every 40-year-old woman looks like Demi Moore, but you have to hand it to her — the onetime brat-packer performed a valuable public service by having a very public fling with a man 15 years her junior.

You won't always have to pick up the bill
Older women tend to be more advanced in their careers — at any rate, they're not temping at Office Angels whilst waiting to land a degree in marketing. If you're lucky, your high-powered date might even write off your romantic dinners as "business meetings" on her corporate credit card. (Note: be careful not to abuse this privilege, lest you cross the line from non-ageist Sensitive Guy to gold-digging Toy Boy.

You'll be spared the mind games
By the time they've hit 35, most women have flirted shamelessly, cheated (and been cheated on), dumped (and been dumped), run away, run back, written soppy letters, ripped up the soppy letters they've written, etc. They're done with all that stuff — and good riddance! So if you get involved with someone a few years your senior, she's much more likely to have a direct, no-nonsense, and refreshingly blunt attitude about the whole dating game.

You might actually like their kids
Let's face it — there are lots of men out there would like to have kids, but they're terrified of pregnancy, unnatural cravings, and the taxi ride to the hospital. If your older girlfriend happens to be divorced with a handful of kids — preferably ones who've passed the potty-training stage — look on the bright side: You get all the benefits of vicarious fatherhood without the midnight feedings and nappy changes.

I liked this part the best:

Oh we've all made these late night phone calls and regretted it in the morning!
