I would appreciate any intercultural relationship advice from anyone who is wiser if not older I would also like to let people know that not all egyptian men are slimy, the good ones just introduce you to their families and let them feed you to death

I visited his family in Cairo and they were really sweet to me, I loved them and cant wait to visit again LOL BUT next time I will convince them that I am on a strict diet How have his family reacted to a girlfriend? My husbands family are moderate but didn't like him dating, his sis thinks Im a good influence 'cause I don't drink and he follows my lead hehehehe. Good luck and have fun

Good luck and have fun Well I say boyfriend, but we are actually engaged. I'm getting married here in Cairo this April. This is my second visit to Cairo to see his family. I'm originally from UK but both me and my boyfriend live and work in Dubai, which is where we met. I'm going home to Dubai tomorrow and I'm sad as I've had a really nice time and once the holiday's over then it's back to work Where did you meet your husband?

Stephie_ELH Member # 16197	posted Dubai Girl, I met my husband when he was working in Nottingham in the UK but we became really close when he returned to 'Masr' LOL....I sympathise with you having to leave your fiancee, I've had to return home and leave him while we wait for the HO to process him

You are not far from my neck of the woods as well I have never really met a bad Egyptian so I am in your corner with my tin hat on It is not much different from dating any other guy around the world but they just tend to socialise at what I would call stupid o'clock !!!

Lady Ferret Member # 15263	posted I love the night life here but I also have to function as a human during the day! Egyptian men are like plants. As long as they are fed and watered regularly they are happy. Like all marriages it is all about give and take and compromise. I have never married an Egyptian but I do date them and the biggest issue I find how they like to take control of everything, maybe I notice this more as I like to be in control so I am learning to be less bossy I don't even get to choose which club we go to but I have discovered that they are doing their best to make me hapy so I deal with it lol... Good luck in your new married life and my only suggestion is like in any relationship in any country in any culture... the harder you look for things to have an issue over, the more issues you will have Go with the flow and enjoy him

naya Member # 13958	posted For me the first funny thing was how I could not have spent any of my money when I was with my husband (then fiance) on my first trip to Egypt. He even insisted to pay for all the presents for my family and friends. So I was so happy when he stayed in Egypt and I was alone at the airport in Cairo and started to buy and of course I knew I was paying way too much, but I just had to buy some stuff with my own money.
