Last week I went out for dinner in Dubai with a group of expat friends and we got to talking about our heritages. Most of the people there were British born but had parents who have migrated from other countries. One friend is half czech half finnish, another is half sri lankan half english. It got me thinking about how many of us have mixed heritages and it seems that in England this is very much the case for a lot of people.
For example I am British, but actually my father is German (but born in UK) My mother's father was born to welsh parents and her grandfather on her mother's side was Scottish.
So that makes me a mix of English, German, Scottish and Welsh. Add into the mix my 100% pure (according to him) Egyptian husband.
My future children will have a healthy mix of international blood running through their bones
I'm interested to know what your heritage is? Are you 100% pure or do you have a mixture?

english/british - but seen as though england's been invaded over the years by Vikings, Danes, Celts, Normans, Jutes, Angles , Saxons and Romans (with their slaves from the Middle East and North Africa), - I could be a number of anything!
My mitochondrial DNA takes me back to rural Cambridgeshire to the 1600/1700s - and apparently that area was well invaded by the Jutes and Angles who apparently had round fat faces (so that explains mine!)

On my dad's side fully English (well, as much as anyone can be fully English). Mum's side: Granddad Hungarian, Nan welsh. And I'm having a half Egyptian lil boy, and my brother married a Canadian so has half Canadian kids. Don’t think my dad’s parents are too happy, they could trace back their English blood to the Vikings, and in one generation it’s all gone to pot lol.

Polish. I'm not sure about the great great great ... grandparents - we've had lots of wars and many different borders in the past (once reaching almost to the Black Sea).

American with 50% Belgian, 40% German, 10% Irish blood or so I'm told. I was adopted. I am sure about the 50% Belgian part.
I was raised by a 100% Sicilian mother and a 75% German, 25% American Indian father. Guess which one dominated.

As most main-land Europeans, there have been quite a lot of nationalities in my roots; I am sure about the Italians, the Belgians and the Dutch, but also there are people with the same familyname in Egypt, Turkey and Russia. From one side they were farmers, the other side were artists and architects specialised in religious buildings. Probably thats why they traveled...
