[/b][/QUOTE] Yes, I agree with you. Male circumcision, as practiced in Egypt was a "coming of age" ritual, and mandatory for the priesthood. Herodotus seems to think that it was for cleanliness. I think it was sexually motivated, as priests were forbidden to have sexual intercourse with their wives several days before entering the temple. I also believe that all religious rituals are the result of wanting people to conform to a specific type of behavior; and I think in this case, it is sexual behavior. (my OPINION).
