Regarding the Phoenicians, they are the product of a blending os Syro-Pales- tinian peoples with those who originated as Sea Peoples. Now the Sea Peoples are partly at least of Aegean origin, and probably included Mycenaean elements as well as Anatolian elements, and as now it is known that Linear B is Greek, then, some of those Sea Peoples were of Greek origin. So, the Phoenicians would be a blend of Semitic and Indo-European speakers, that produced the distinctive Phoenician culture. If these Phoenicians are the source of the Classical Greek alphabet, then at least in part, it was Greeks who had left the Aegean or rather their descendants, giving something back to Greeks in the Aegean, of a later generation.

Has anyone ever explored whether the Hyksos were related to the Phonecians? I have heard that they may have been referred to as the "sea peoples" as well....

How old is this post? Recent evidence traces the earliest alphabet back to Egypt.
