The following are examples from Adolf Erman's Egyptian Grammar that will illustrate how to properly read the hieroglyphic "km-t" and through these examples, how NOT to render an improper reading. You will notice that Erman, like Budge, and those who write today use the Ancient Egyptian name for Memphis - "Ekipto" (He.t ki Ptah) or "Egypt" in their translitieration of the name to include the entire nation... EXAMPLES OF DETERMNATIVES INCLUDES THE"NWT" AND ITS MEANING HOW "NWT" IS BOTH A DETERMINATIVE AS WELL AS AN IDEOGRAM ...AND IN A SENTENCE AND NOW YOU HAVE THE PROPER, BASIC KNOWLEDGE TO READ THIS GLYPH...

Good stuff but too large. Please resize your jpegs in future posts for no lateral scrolling.

It's all because of the large page on Ideograms, and Egyptsearch has a time-limit on editing - sheesh ...I might have an idea on a fix...
