the thing with Amenhotep though is that if Nefertiti is light skinned and Tiye is dark, wouldn't one have to be lighter skinned? That is if Nefertiti is their child.
There is no Ancient Egyptian document that suggests that Nefertiti is a child of Amenhotep III/a sister of Akhenaten. Because of the incongruence between the DNA of the younger lady, and what is known about the identity of Nefertiti, many people reject Nefertiti was the mother of Tutankamon, and/or the daughter of Amenhotep III. Keep in mind also that the bust of Nefertiti isn't the only artwork that exists of her. Images of her on Amarna murals depict the entire family as medium to dark brown, not the beige we see on her famous bust. The mummy of the younger lady, whether or not its Nefertiti, has the genetic signature of Tutankamons mother. Her mummy has been reconstructed (using xrays) by the University of Nottingham, and the reconstruction looks like what we know Nubians/Ancient Egyptians would have looked like.
