That second picture is suspect in its authenticity, around the neck that white strip seems tampered with sense the two lines that the white strip is sandwiched bewteen is darker then the color of the statue.

This thread is not about "Scribes in the art of Ancient Egypt"
It is becuase I found this this new picture of this famous particular scribe with green hair and skirt. That is very unusual. That is going to take further research to find out why.
Cleaning old art can be controversial. For instance the large sistine chapel fresco painting by Michael Angelo was cleaned from dirt in the air. a lot of soot over the centuries from candle burning had accumulated on it. It's controversial because it's hard to tell if the cleaning methods are removing dirt only or also color. There is a recent thread about this pertaining to a "black madonna" in the Deshret forum
This sculpture of this scribe had a layer of wax on it and was also dirty and they cleaned it in 1998 However this picture of this seated scribe may be before they cleaned it. The green color could either be a photographic problem or it could be that some paint on the sculpture could have had a chemical reaction causing a green color
^ another photo from the same source but darker lighting. In this lighting you can't tell what the accurate color is as much but it does seem slightly greenish in those parts in this darker lighting situation

Why is all this hype over some unknown scribe?

@ Ish Even though there're plenty scribe statues this one is the one they always push out. You know as well as I do because of his colour and facial features. Got nothing to do with patina mistaken as original paint.
