So Jews have the reverse issue....a Jewish woman can marry whomever she wants while it is incumbent on the man to marry a Jewish woman. While Islam has very specific rules about these types of issues, in practice you will see similar issues in almost any religion. My Episcopalian mother was adamant that neither my brother nor I marry a Catholic. And her generation didn't see too many Catholics marrying outside their faith. Even in my generation (I'm 38), I had a good number of friends who converted to Catholicism to marry their Catholic boyfriends/girlfriends. [/QB][/QUOTE]
