You don't have to agree with Islamic principles...but I suggest you don't be so flippant about it when visiting Egypt, OK? It is my understanding that the rationale behind dictating who can marry whom deals with the continuation of the religion. It is thought that if the husband is Muslim, it is more likely all the children will be raised Muslim. If a Muslim woman marries outside the faith, the new husband is likely to dictate what religion the kids will be. In addition, if a Muslim woman marries a non-Muslim man, the man may pressure the Muslim woman to not practice her Islam.
