ISRAEL PLANNED CAPTURE OF PALESTINIAN GOVERNMENT LONG BEFORE ALLEGED KIDNAPPING

"The detention of Hamas parliamentarians in the early hours of Thursday morning had been planned several weeks ago and received approval from Mazuz on Wednesday. "

I would agree that they probably had a plan for arresting them should trouble break out. Hamas cannot govern palestine. You cannot have a democratic government run by people pledged to destroy democracy. Hamas favors an Islamic government and that simply cannot be allowed to hold power. The quicker this is done the better for everyone.
Israel needs to impose martial law and give a ten year prison term to everyone caught with a gun of any kind and a life sentence if you are caught with a missle launcher. Car and suicide bombers should have their homes destroyed and in some cases face deportation. All of these things are currently being discussed.

Sanctions.
The west, or Europe at least should impose sanctions on the country. Can you imagine for a moment somewhere like Belgium sending troops into Austria and kidnapping their democratically elected government???
Without the aid they recieve Israel would cease to exist, it doesn't work.
This situation must be deeply disturbing to many Israeli citizens [it certainly is to their supporters outside Israel] What are they thinking?
Will they continue up to open genocide?

If the palestinians do not accept a civil government they will be placed under israeli control. The west is not going to impose sanctions on israel. The EU nations all oppose hamas. Palestinains made their bed, they'll have to sleep in it. The nazis in germany were also democratically elected but they were not democratic in their views, the same is true Hamas. They'll have to be taken out and the u.S. will support that effort.

I get soooooo tired of this simplistic rhetoric from the US.
All this Swartzenegger b/s,"kill enough of 'em and it will be ok.... "
I saw a guy in Jerusalem interviewed by the BBC recently [expat Jewish Manhattan] he pretty much summed up the Israeli allitude to Palestine and their neighbours. He said it was like 3 guys beating an old man in the gutter, hitting him on the head with rocks. 'And no matter how often and how hard we beat him, he STILL doesn't like us!'
I suspect that Israel is soon to become deeply unpopular in the civilised world, as a PR exercise this week has been ghastly for them, combined with America's blunders in the ME, the world's press are asking why the US supports this slaughter.
there will be a backlash.
You reap what you sow.

Backlash was true in the 80's Jessie, even in the 90's but not anymore. People are tired of the palestinians and thier pig headed failure to compromise. they'll have to be removed in the end. I think Israel will end up with the entire area by default.

Israeli Tanks Roll Into Southern Gaza

Israeli tanks and troops moved into southern Gaza early Wednesday in a new phase of a two-week offensive aimed at confronting militants holding a captured soldier and firing rockets, Palestinians and the military said.

By 'new phase' do they mean continual occupation?

Palestine had plenty of opportunities to compromise, but in the end their hatred of Jews and hunger for power won.

As Hore said, they made their bed so now they'll have to sleep on it.

don't your realize Israel is not even a country?? Israel has no Constitution even though the proclamation of Independence called for one, nor has Israel ever defined its borders.
