Even though I attempt to figure out what they mean by the use of the term 'crossover' candidate, it also implies a division, as if he should only be a candidate for X group!
If this were really about REAL family, social and cultural values as opposed to backstabbing innuendos, etc, each person will vote for the candidate they imagine will serve their own interests.

In this instance, crossover is a democrat candidate funded and controlled by republicans to split the democratic vote by having republicans "crossover" and vote for the republican fronted democratic candidate as well as a percentage of democratic voters, taking the vote from the REAL democratic candidate.
This tactic was used by large corporations such as Lockheed Martin and General Electric to win awards of government minority set-aside programs intended to nurture black businesses. These corporations setup a black front person as CEO, and when set-aside awards were won, Lockheed or GE would actually win the business. It's illegal and considered felonious fraud. Misrepresentation of political candidates should be felonious as well.
It's a spin on the same tactics used following the passage of the civil rights bill and institution of Affirmative Action programs. Whites passed the bill giving the ILLUSION blacks were benefitting from entitlement program, but in reality Whites declare white women as minorities who gooble up 80% of minority entitlements. Therefore, white men and women are dominate beneficiaries of affirmative action programs meant to empower black minorities. The Ole Crossover trick. Works on blacks every time.
