Istanbul an Islamic city? No its more of a agnostic city.

Remember the "Father of Modern Turkey" Kamel? was it? Yeah that due was a socialist and wouldn't really have an issue with Moss's dress.

By the way Moss is the leader of the Waff (sp?) look and is supposed to be nearly flat chested.

I have more of an issue with her lack of hairstyle and the crappy makeup. since I am looking at her face.

Otherwise its a cute polka dot dress that just needs a slip underneath it.

4. Turkey's population is over ninety-nine percent Muslim, and the remaining less than one percent consists of a diverse group of non-Muslim minorities. INTERNATIONAL RELIGIOUS FREEDOM REPORT 2006, supra note 2. There are approximately 65,000 Armenian Orthodox Christians; 23,000 lews; and fewer than 2500 Greek Orthodox Christians. Other minorities include about 10,000 Baha'is; 15,000 Syrian Orthodox Christians; 5000 Yezidis; 3300 Jehovah's Witnesses; 3000 Protestants; and small numbers of Bulgarian, Chaldean, Nestorian, Georgian, Roman Catholic, and Maronite Christians. Id. Under Turkish law, one "cannot be listed officially as an agnostic or atheist." Otmar Oehring, Turkey: Is There Religious Freedom in Turkey?, Forum 18 News Service, Oct. 12, 2005, available at http://www.foruml8.org/Archive.php?article_id-670.

http://findarticles.com/p/articles/mi_qa3736/is_200701/ai_n21033499/pg_10

Mustafa Kemal became the republic's first president and subsequently introduced many radical reforms with the aim of founding a new secular republic from the remnants of its Ottoman past.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Turkey#Republic_era

Istanbul is still a very western, modern and secular city.

and I highly doubt you know the difference between Alevis and Sunni Muslim Turks, but its a huge reason why Secularism has remained a strong political force in Turkey.

http://books.google.com/books?hl=en&lr=&id=lFFRzTqLp6AC&oi=fnd&pg=PR9&dq=Secular+Turkey&ots=T-0lCNTVTz&sig=HX2tlVTEcH6h3DnnLhJAOW5paSc#PPA1,M1

Religious freedoms
Atatürk effectively abolished the centuries-old traditions by means of reforms to which much of the population was unaccustomed but nevertheless willing to adopt. In some cases, these reforms were seen as benefiting the urban elites rather than the generally illiterate inhabitants of the rural countryside,[83] where religious sentiments and customary norms tended to be stronger. In particular, Atatürk's strict religious reforms met with some opposition, and they continue to generate a considerable degree of social and political tension to this day. In the future, political leaders would draw upon dormant forces of religion in order to secure positions of power, only to be blocked by the interventions of the powerful military (as in 1960 when Prime Minister Adnan Menderes was overthrown by the military).[84]

In Mustafa Kemal's world there was no dualism. He enforced his ideas to the full extent. According to Mustafa Kemal, a progressive nation also was progressive in understanding its belief system. Mustafa Kemal commissioned the translation of the Quran into Turkish and he had it read in front of the public in 1932.[85]

Notwithstanding the Islamic prohibition against the consumption of alcoholic beverages, he encouraged domestic production of alcohol and established a state-owned spirits industry. He was known to have an appreciation for the national beverage, rakı, and enjoyed it in vast quantities.[86]

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mustafa_Kemal_Atat%C3%BCrk#Religious_freedoms

Turkey is massively secular next to any other nation in the Meditterean, more so than even Greece, Italy and other Christian nations.

As it is based on secularism, nothing mentioned about the religion of the nation in the constitution.

o god, nothing is worse than having ur pic taken in a gown like that.....been there done that.

these dresses, you cant see through them but when a pic is taken and the flash gets thru the tiny holes in the fabric (since the fabric is so thin) you get to see everything underneath.
but it only comes up on picture, not in real life.

She's quite preggie right now; ready to pop anytime! [Wink] I heard that she's havin' a boy.

I am just glad that she found luck again after her sad break-up with Tom Cruise. I mean he literally dumped her just right before their 10th wedding anniversary... go figure! [Confused]

Had a number of Turk classmates in college, talk about trying really hard to shock people.

The divide between conservative and secular among the young generation is the widest I have ever seen among the Turk.

Forget the rest of the Arabs.

Without a Muslim Turkish Empire the Arabs wouldn't have much for history.

Southern Europe was the mainstay of Euro civilization until the last 2 centuries, and that wouldn't have happened without the Turks.

So both the Arabs and the Euros can fock themselves.

As much as I have read in regards to Turk history, I am not impressed with their society, but I am impressed with their knowledge collection, ability to lead and maintain strategic relationships, foster appreciation for other cultures and also give these cultures credit when credit is due. Plus Turk women have always had a huge role influencing some of the more sane decisions by Turk leaders.

Again Arabs and Euros can fock themselves, neither group would be who they are today without Turk leadership. Fock'em

No chicka-dee, I have read a great deal of history and Turks have had as much influence on Euro culture as the Romans and Greeks.

Never stated Turks invented Islam. But the Turks spread it and institutionalized it. Without the Turk Empire over the Arabs, Islam probably wouldn't had a lasting impact. Nor would Muslim leaders have effective long lasting institutions without them.

I am not attacking Euro civilization, I stated the same for both Euro and Arabs, why would it only be an attack on Euro and not Arabs?

No its only cultural superiority in the mindset of Euros to assume that Greeks and Romans influenced their history but Turks did not.
