Cairo - A Libyan worker stabbed an Israeli tourist in the face in the coastal Sinai town of Nuweiba, lightly wounding him, Egyptian police said Monday.
A source in the Egyptian Ministry of Interior, speaking to the German Press Agency dpa on condition of anonymity, on Monday said a Libyan worker stabbed a 40-year-old Israeli tourist in the face as he walked through Nuweiba's Bahash bazaar.
Police said the suspected assailant dropped his passport as he fled, and that they were searching the area for him.
According to Israeli press reports, the tourist was brought to the Israeli city of Eilat, on the Gulf of Aqaba, for treatment.
