We can spend a great deal of time debating what scientifically cannot be well defined: race. However, to understand the history of the great Middle Eastern nation of Egypt we should take some time to dissect its current population.
Ababda - indigenous North African (US Black politically)
Ahamidat Alhoarh - unknown origin Armenians
Bedouin - Arab Bisharin - indigenous North African (US Black politically)
Chinese
Circassians
Copt - Jewish/Egyptian mix
Dom - sizeable group of people of Indian origin (essentially a type of Caucasian people)
Filipinos - quite a few illegal workers.
Greek - a large thriving community of Greeks still are present in Egpt today. They may number as much as a 1/2 million people.
Hedareb - another indigenous Black African people similar to Horn Africans
Italians - history going back to Roman occupation.
Koreans
Magyarab - Hungarians and Nubian mixture. Recent.
Malays
Nubians - indigenous Black Africans most Arabized.
Siwis - Berbers but a small minority.
Turks - small minority group. Primarily this group lives in Cairo.

The above are groups of people that have not assimilated into Egyptian society in terms of identity. Most of the Egyptian population claim to be just that - Egyptian.
There is about 81 million Egyptians. Of that, the minority groups above only represent 4 to 5 million people. The bulk of the population consider themselves Egyptian people in origin.

Thats the thing. I SEE the WHOLE Picture hence the reason why I never insult or disrespect your Egyptian Heritage. All I say is that AE was more closely linked with Africans.

I think this thread went off on a North African Jewish direction. Basically a question of the relationship betweens Jews and Copts.
I haven't seen any population estimates but there was supposed to be a rather sizeable Jewish population in Egypt before the destruction of the temple.
What happened to the Jews of Egypt? My understanding is that many of them converted (Christian first and some later to Islam).

Black people of America are not claiming to have any direct connection to Egypt. They are simply saying it was a black civilization. Midevil Europe, and Rome are two different "white' peoples, but they both are white civilizations.
Its not AFrocentric to think that an empire that existed in AFRICA was AFrican. Not to meantion Egypt only has cultural links to other African people as far as South AFrica.
White people has gone as far as to say white people originated from an entirely different species. And it was regaurded as truth until someome found out through science that he fabricated the evidence. So the trust level of black people to white historians is very low. Not to meantion they are changing what slavery means in US history books to make slavery not look as bad.... Typical.
