Ancient Egyptians made the arduous trek to Chad new research suggests

Professor Schneider says that when this mix of archaeological, environmental, textual and linguistic evidence is combined together it suggests that there was contact between ancient Egypt and Chad. Royal expeditions could have travelled from the Dakhla oasis, through the mountains of Jebel Uweinat and entered into Chad – a land that, 4,000 years ago, was a rich lake country.
This is “a route where not just physical commodities (but) also ideas, concepts could have entered Egypt,” said Schneider.
“Egyptian intellectual history needs to be at one point re-written,” he said. “There are influences from regions that we never believed, 10 years ago, that there might have been influence.”

^ This info for the main part is not news to us as we've had several past threads on Egyptian contact with Chad and from there further west in Africa. What I do find new is that these early Chadians had some influence on Egypt. Though the question is, did such influence go back even farther to predynastic times?

adrianne,

Don't bother with the obsessed foreigner Djehuti. He is upset because you have displayed scholarship and that is considered a threat in his dunce cap mind.

Keep posting the much needed scholarship.

PS. This just illustrates how Chad, Niger, Mali and Sudan are a thorn in the side to eurocentrism since these countries are undeniably "black people" who violate the crazed euro fantasy by living in the desert. "Black people" are not supposed to be living in the desert of their own accord.

There was a famous trade route that connected Egypt with the interior of Africa known as Darb al Arbein. Archaeologist have also found Osiris statues in regions of Central Africa.

I agree that this is an understated topic. It should get more bandwidth coverage, especially given the tendency in "western" circles to divorce coastal north Africa, not just Egypt, from the rest of the continent.

Sadly, we have a moderator who does not know what spam really is.

A good moderator is someone who remains neutral, and does not get pissed when he loses an argument.

You got defeated already!

BTW, for those who're following the truth.

Indians did travel to China, just as Egyptians travelled to other part of Africa (Chad in this case).

Does this mean that contact can only occur between people who are identical? Of course not, neighbors can always meet and interact with each other for myriads of reasons, but they're still different populations and often distinct.

Mau, you never defeated me. You made an erroneous claim that Ahmed Zaki has ancestry from slaves imported into Egypt during the 19th century. You never supported it. Infact, I refuted your notion by posting evidence that people with phenotypes similar existed before the 19th century. Other than picture spam and posts from right-wing political commentary you have contributed nothing of original thought to Egyptsearch.

You rely upon others to make arguments based upon innuendo instead of logic. This would be fine if we were in Congress or the court room but we are discussing history. Yes, this is a lax atmosphere but this is not time to lose logic.

Continue to be a google debater and spam bot.

I am very neutral. I allow you to post here because you are being civil. However, I have to take precaution in case you pollute the forum with tracts of unoriginal thought. Your track record has demonstrated this.

You know very well, that the only reason so many people post here is not because of the boring "House Negroes", it is actually because of people like me who make it more interesting and present a more balanced point of view.

You have no idea about Ahmed Zaki's heritage, but at least I gave you factual reasons. Many Egyptians bought Slaves from the Slave market in Cairo and as a rule, children born by a Slave Mother are considered free, unlike in racist nations.

Also, you claimed that he was never called "Black" and I have given you proof and a picture to boot (you can order the movie poster, too).

Instead of trying to focus on people who balance this forum with facts and wisdom, you should at least try to keep the parrots with the real picture spams and copy and paste of biased Afrocentric studies from posting and reposting the same tired and old stuff over and over again.

Remember, Mubarak's Internal Security Apparatus Has Been Dismantled. So, Now you're on your own, and can actually think for yourself.

Actually Mau, the reason why people are here is because the origins of the ancient Egyptians are discussed. It's a hot button topic in American academia. If there was no talk of race upon this forum neither you nor many of the posters who post here would. You have to be the biggest narssacist to conclude people come to this forum because of you.

You cannot contribute much to this topic because I find you lack the basic facts about ancient Egypt and even archaeology. This is fine but you act as if just being an Egyptian gives you authority to the origins of the ancient Egyptians. This is foolish and just as illogical as many of the same Afrocentric scholars who posit their ancestors can be directly linked to the ancient Egyptians. To be truly open minded you have to entertain all ideas and examine their validity.

You irrationaly made the conclusion that Ahmed Zaki because he was from Zagazig in the Delta he came from slave populations. When I posted material of Greco-Roman descriptions of Delta Egyptians which conform to Zaki's phenotype you gloss over it and then bring up Islamic law. You fail to understand that most of the enslaved Africans transported to Egypt for concubinage would alter the phenotype of the Delta Egyptian much.

All the rest of your post is empty rhetoric and ad hominem.

The Myth of Continents is a Fact, that no intelligent person can deny.

The only reason people think of Africa as separate is because the White Master wanted Black Africans to think of themselves as Slaves and Sub-Human.

Africa/Asia/Europe Are One Big Continent that no scientist can ever deny!

I deleted Mau's post because it contained personal attacks against me. Contrary to what he said I have allowed native Egyptians express differences of opinion. Look up a poster name Masreya. I really wish she would post on this forum again because she acknowledged the dark skinned Egyptians and did not try to write them off as Sudanese slaves.

Plus Mau tried to accuse her of being a fake Egyptian and she told him off. He was then posting under the name Giza-Rider.

I personally don't care if Mau or anybody on this forum thinks I am Egyptian or not.

The fact remains Mau has done very little research on ancient Egypt and gets most of his sources from right-wing publications. He even cited racialist garbage like Burlington News. He probably believes modern Egyptians are bastards like most white supremacist believe.

Mau, if you are a light skinned Egyptian that's fine. I have all types of Egyptians in my family by marriage and by relation. Stop trying to act like you are the mouth piece for most or even some Egyptians. I certainly donot try to do this.

Of course the Khawaga knows all of this! Not only does he lie to everyone else, but most importantly he is lying to HIMSELF when he insists that he has "defeated" you and he "wins". He sounds like the drug-head Charlie Sheen.

 -

Like Sheen, Mau is out of touch with reality and lives in his fantasy.

Getting back to the REAL WORLD.

He idiot Afrangi compares ancient Kmt's relationship with Chad to that of India and China.

But here are some important differences:

1. The relations between Chad and Egypt are much more ancient.

&

2. Unlike Chinese and Indians, The Chadians and Egyptians both share RECENT COMMON ANCESTRY via the Sahara. Their close relation to each other can be seen in the simple facts that they both speak Afrasian languages i.e. Chadic and Egyptic, and BOTH peoples are BLACK.

I know the last part stings the Afrangi's heart, but oh well. [Big Grin]

Of course he is. Why else would he spend his entire existence in this forum going on an anti-black tirade?? He is threatened and incensed by the FACT of ancient Egypt's black African identity and is on a pathetically futile crusade against it. Even in threads that don't mention 'race' or color but only reaffirm Egypt's African culture that he feels the urge to interject with his silly modern day politics and race-baiting.

Indeed. He talks about "balanced view" when really he means trying to counter our valid views with invalid and inaccurate ones of his own. No problem here. This forum is more open to debate than the racist anti-black forums out there where he gets his info from! LOL

He can argue all he wants, but we have TRUTH on our side. And truth always trumps silly racialist lies.

Getting Back on track [Roll Eyes] - Here is a link to the actual publication. It is only the abstract. If anyone has the full text please post.

Abstract
quote:
The Amduat, one of the Egyptian guides to the underworld, provides specific descriptions and measurements relating to the first three hours after sunset, during which the sun god Re passes through an interstitial realm (the first hour) before arriving at two gigantic sweet- water oceans (the second and third hours). Rather than seeing in this imagery reflections of the unconscious and antecedents of modern psychotherapy (as has been proposed by some modern scholars), the present work argues that the description was inspired by actual knowledge of the environment of the region to the distant southwest of the Nile Valley, beyond the Gilf Kebir and Gebel Uweinat on modern Egypt’s southwest corner. Recent evidence has made plausible that the Abu Ballas Trail connected Egypt with the Chad Basin of Central Africa. Elements of the factual description provided in the Amduat (including environmental and linguistic details; e.g., the hitherto unexplained name “Wernes”) can be corroborated by modern palaeoecological reconstruction of the area as having comprised gigantic palaeolakes, as well as by linguistic and narrative evidence.
