Quote from our latest idiot Captain00: "Curly hair can found all around the world. The ancient reliefs just show a art form rather then what they looked like, even Assyrian reliefs have themselves with curly hair.

Until Captain00, only Lioness was stupid enough to say something THAT stupid!

Fingerwaves....ok.

I guess the use of this picture (versus one that was probably more appropriate to use for an example of a comparison) makes a woman wonder what kind of STYLING GEL/POMADE those Assyrian soldiers used lol....

Seriously though, respectfully, while the other pictures made sense as comparisons those Assyrian soldiers do not look like they have FINGERWAVES....but that's just how I personally seet....

How to Make Finger Waves for Black Hair

quote:
Wash and condition your hair, using a rinse-out conditioner. Squeeze the excess water out of your hair, and do not blow dry it.

Coat the surface of your damp hair completely--but not heavily--with styling gel or pomade. Keep your hair damp; if needed, periodically add water to moisten your hair or thin the gel or pomade just a bit. Use a fine-toothed comb to work the gel or pomade through your hair.

Comb your hair straight down against your scalp. Hold your index finger and middle fingers together and place them against your scalp, next to your part or where you have created a part. Comb only the top layer of hair--the one just beneath your fingers--backward, and comb the rest straight down again.

Move your fingers over slightly so they are gently on top of the first finished wave. Hold the hair down and comb the top layer of the hair--the one below your fingers-- forward. In other words, the opposite of what you did before. Move your fingers so they rest atop this new wave and continue finger-waving all of your hair.

quote:
The finger wave hairstyle gained popularity in the 1920s and returned on the scene in the 1990s. Finger waves involve creating soft, wave-like ridges partially or entirely throughout the hair by wetting and using a hair gel to shape wave ridges around the index finger, combing hair in opposite directions, like S-curves. The results create a sexy, glamorous, star-like hairdo. Finger waves are great on long or short hair. A few guidelines work well on short hair.

Basics

A couple of techniques exist to achieve finger waves: one involves S-curves back and forth; the other involves pinching ridges between index and forefinger. For the S-curve technique, you'll need a fine-tooth comb to manipulate the hair into a wave pattern. Wetting your hair with water will help waves last longer. Adding hair moisturizer (such as Aphogee Leave-In) will keep hair and scalp from drying out because of the setting lotion, or thick hair gel (such as Ampro Pro Styl) that you will apply to shape and hold the hair.

Getting Started

Thoroughly wet the hair and fully moisturized it then apply gel, combing hair smooth and straight down to each side and parting your hair where you plan to begin the wave, usually off-center. Do not apply too much gel; it will delay drying and may flake or look greasy, depending upon the quality of your hair gel.

Wave One

To begin the first wave, place your pointer finger slightly below the part line, your fingertips toward your forehead. Your elbow will be lifted at a backward angle if you are doing this by yourself. Comb hair forward using your finger as a guide to create the first ridge. Comb excess hair flat down; lift finger from newly created ridge.

Second Wave

To begin the second wave, place pointer finger below newly created ridge wave and index finger above it to secure the first wave ridge. Swoop open end of first wave around your guide finger (lowest finger on your head) and comb hair backward. Again, comb excess hair downward and flat. You have created a complete S-curve.

Technique

Drag or swoop the end of the second ridge from back to front, using your guide finger. You will continue the S-curve pattern until you reach your ear where you can end with a cute sideburn. In effect, you are combing forward then backward then forward again, holding each ridge of the S-curve between your index and pointer fingers, until you move on to the next ridge. Make sure the comb's teeth touch your scalp to gather every strand of hair. Wipe off any excess gel and moisturizer when you are done.

I guarantee you it is not the same as the Sally's technique you've posted.

Mike111 caught making lies again.

His ''black cavalry figure'' (100 AD) is of a NORTH AFRICAN or MOOR not an ancient Briton.

Furthermore this Moor or African was never in Britain, it is a cavalry figure brought over by a Roman senior figure who had it crafted since North Africans were used as mercenaries for the Romans.

Info about this from the British Museum:

http://www.britishmuseum.org/explore/highlights/highlight_objects/pe/b/bronze_figurine_of_a_moorish_c.aspx

^Don't bother, you can't!

My turn:

The Roman historian Cornelius Tacitus (56-118 A.D.)

Tacitus: Germany Book 1 [1]

The dark complexion of the Silures, their usually curly hair, and the fact that Spain is the opposite shore to them, are an evidence that Iberians of a former date crossed over and occupied these parts. Those who are nearest to the Gauls are also like them, either from the permanent influence of original descent, or, because in countries which run out so far to meet each other, climate has produced similar physical qualities.

How about it, does the statue and the description for NATIVE Gauls match?

I know the Tacitus quote Mike now get to proving this particular image is a Black Brit..the problem I have with you Mike is you want use images of Africans actually representing native Africans but ignore those same Africans and give their history to some native Blacks that one would be hard pressed to find images of.

Mike,

Tacitus described the Silures as colorati.

This is not the same as nigra (black/dark).

Learn some latin.

Colorati = “reddish, sunburnt, tanned.”

The Silures were Meditteranid or Ibero-Meditteranoid, they came from Spain and resembled the basques.

Here is a basque woman (Edurne Pasaban):

 -

Tanned/dark skinned. Nothing though negroid about her.

The silures/basques etc were not negroid.

LET ME MAKE THIS POINT CLEAR:

Mike cannot accept that white people can have tanned or darker olive skin withouth negroid admixture.

Since he fails to accept that white people can have a tan or olive skin, he claims they must be black or negroid.

How about it, does the statue and the description for NATIVE Gauls match?
=========

The ancient Gauls were white skinned and fair haired.

See ancient sources:

Diodorus Siculus, Bibliotheca Historica, 5. 28. 1 (60 – 30 BC):

‘‘The Gauls are tall of body, with rippling muscles, and white of skin, and their hair is blond, and not only naturally so, but they also make it their practice by artificial means to increase the distinguishing colour which nature has given it.’’

Virgil, Aeneid, 8. 658 – 660 (29 – 19 BC):

‘‘Golden is their hair and golden their garb. They are resplendent in their striped cloaks, and their milk-white necks are circled with gold.’’

Livy, Ab urbe condita (History of Rome) 38. 17. 3 (25 BC):

‘‘Gauls have the highest reputation as soldiers... their tall persons, their long red hair’’

Ibid, 38. 21. 9:
‘‘The fact that they fight naked makes their wounds conspicuous and their bodies are fleshy and white, as is natural, since they are never uncovered except in battle; so that both more blood flowed from their abundant flesh and the wounds stood out to view more fearfully and the whiteness of their skins was more stained by the black blood.’’

Silius Italicus, Punica, IV. 200 (70 – 100 AD):

‘‘Auro certantem et rutilum sub vertice noduiu’’

‘‘…the ruddy topknot on the crown of his head’’*

*Describes a Gaulic hair style, ruddy = red haired.

Ammianus Marcellinus, Roman History, 15. 12. 1 (378 AD):

“Nearly all the Gauls are of a lofty stature, white, and of ruddy complexion; terrible from the sternness of their eyes, very quarrelsome, and of great pride and insolence. A whole troop of foreigners would not be able to withstand a single Gaul if he called his wife to his assistance, who is usually very strong, and with blue eyes

Claudian, In Rufinum, 2. 100 (400 AD?):

‘…curly-haired Armenian cavalry, their green cloaks fastened with a loose knot, fierce Gauls with golden locks accompanied them’’

The eastern ethiopia of Greek mythology sat in the middle-east, not africa. There were two ethiopian kingdoms. The western ethiopia was the ethiopia of the black africans, the eastern ethiopians however were straight haired and not black (read Herodotus).

Princess Andromeda of the ethiopia in asia was white skinned. See the following sources: Philostr. Imag. i. 29; Heliodorus. Aeth. iv. 8

Furthermore the claim the people of Colchis were black is another lie.

Hippocrates wrote the people of Colchis were sallow (white-yellow) skinned.

[7.70] The eastern Ethiopians - for two nations of this name served in the army - were marshalled with the Indians. They differed in nothing from the other Ethiopians, save in their language, and the character of their hair. For the eastern Ethiopians have straight hair, while they of Libya are more woolly-haired than any other people in the world.

The Persian Wars

Book 1 - CLIO

[2.104] There can be no doubt that the Colchians are an Egyptian race. Before I heard any mention of the fact from others, I had remarked it myself. After the thought had struck me, I made inquiries on the subject both in Colchis and in Egypt, and I found that the Colchians had a more distinct recollection of the Egyptians, than the Egyptians had of them. Still the Egyptians said that they believed the Colchians to be descended from the army of Sesostris. My own conjectures were founded, first, on the fact that they are black-skinned and have woolly hair, which certainly amounts to but little, since several other nations are so too; but further and more especially, on the circumstance that the Colchians, the Egyptians, and the Ethiopians, are the only nations who have practised circumcision from the earliest times.
