Unknown Dutch artist

The Paston Treasure

England (c. 1665)

Norwich Castle Museum

[x] [x]

From BBC:

The Paston Treasure is one of the most important depictions of a schatzkammer (cabinet of treasures - Wunderkammer = wonders) in the history of British collecting. It is a record of the magnificent collections once held at Oxnead Hall in Norfolk, home of the Paston family. It is from the Dutch School, painted between1666-69.

Apart from its visual beauty and thematic complexity, its importance lies in the international scope and interest of the objects portrayed. William Paston was well travelled for his time and the collection includes objects reflecting both exotic nature and the skills of man. The artefacts come from around the known world in the mid 17th century - Asia, Africa, America and Europe. These include sculptures and gems, as well as gold, silver, enamel and natural history specimens. Also depicted is a young slave, the earliest known portrait of an African in Norfolk by almost 200 years.

Depicting a Black kid as one of your exotic possessions? Creepy. But it’s nice to have him in the historical record, given the stereotypical whiteness of Norfolk county.

So, if you ever consider any question similar to the classic: "Is a Character of Color HISTORICALLY ACCURATE in Medieval Europe... or Renaissance Europe... or Regency Europe... etc" -- Please, just read this short, link-rich, image-rich, common-sense-rich intro: "Medieval Europeans of Color: Occupations and Race." There is SO MUCH HERE that most modern U.S. readers have simply never read or thought through (And I say that both as a Person of Years, and as a Person Who Has Earned a PhD...)

Mutapa Matope was the greatest conqueror of early Mutapas (Mutapa means Emperor). He was descendant of Mutapa Mutota (12th/13th century AD) who brought order, a central authority & discipline to early southern African towns. Mutapa Matope conquered and unified various parts of southern Africa, creating the Kingdom of Mutapa. His networked empire offered peace security that allowed Gold and Ivory trade to flourish in this region.

yes

The earliest surviving evidence for St. Maurice consists of a letter written during the early 5th-century. It names a late 4th-century bishop, Theodore of Octodurum, as the discoverer of the relics of St. Maurice and his companions. The fact that St. Maurice is said to have belonged to a legion called the Thebaei which really was stationed in northern Italy by the early 5th-century at latest suggests that Theodore invented the story of St. Maurice in order to appeal to this legion for some reason. One possibility is that he had been trying to persuade it not to accept the usurper Eugenius as their new emperor in 392.

By researching ALL the facts, one is often-time able to circumvent the Albino peoples lies. In this case, they would say that these two boys were slaves or African servants, but as this Wiki and other sources makes clear, these types of servants were themselves "Nobility".

In medieval times, a page was an attendant to a knight, i.e., an apprentice squire. Until the age of about seven, sons of noble families would receive training in manners and basic literacy from their mothers or other female relatives. Upon reaching seven years old, a boy would be sent to the castle, great house or other estate of another noble family. This would match the age at which apprenticeships or servants' employment would be entered into by young males from lower social classes.

A young boy served as a page for about seven years, running messages, serving, cleaning clothing and weapons, and learning the basics of combat. He might be required to arm or dress the lord to whom he had been sent by his own family. Personal service of this nature was not considered as demeaning, in the context of shared noble status by page and lord. It was seen rather as a form of education in return for labour. While a page did not receive reimbursement other than clothing, accommodation and food, he could be rewarded for an exceptional act of service. In return for his work, the page would receive training in horse-riding, hunting, hawking and combat - the essential skills required of adult members of his rank in medieval society. Less physical training included schooling in the playing of musical instruments, the composition and singing of songs, and the learning of board games such as chess. The initial education received as a child in reading and writing, would be continued to a level of modest competence under the tuition of a chaplain or other cleric.

At age fourteen, the young noble could graduate to become a squire, and by age 21, perhaps a knight himself. These boys were often the scions of other great families who were sent to learn the ways of the manorial system by observation. Their residence in the house served as a goodwill gesture between the two families involved and helped them gain social and political contacts for their adult lives. A reference to this kind of page is found in the Christmas carol Good King Wenceslaus: "Hither, page, and stand by me, if thou know'st it, telling..."

This type of page is almost unheard of today outside of royal residences, although the functions and status of legislative pages (see below) are a clear continuation of the earlier role.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Therefore, when the Albinos tell you that this is a Picture of St. Maurice, even the African boys should know better.

Speaking of page boys, I am sure astute Egypt Searchers will immediately notice the similarity in skull shape and hairline of the man (whose identity is not yet ascertained) and the page boy holding the helmet in this picture.

What could that possibly matter?

Surely Habsburg is sophisticated enough to know that YOU Albinos modify Black artifacts, or create entirely NEW ones, to falsely depict Albinos in the place of Blacks.

His point may be that the Knights Black face and hairline was OVER-Painted to make it look like the Knight was an Albino.

Nigerian historian Catherine Acholonu believe many of the Ancient Kings of the British isle were black people. In her book Eden in Sumer Catherine Acholonu quote British histian David McRitchie to show many ancient English, Scotish and Irish, Danish Kings were black people.

According to Catherine Acholonu the original aristocracy of Europe was a black aristocracy. The Roman and Norman conquest of England introduced some mulato and white people in the black English nobility.

The Scotish people were called Egyptians (black people). The Scots say they are the descendant of the Ancient Egptians. Ireland is Eri land is name after the Igbo God Eri. African immigrant in Europe were called Moors. Among the Moors of Ancient Europe were the Picts, the Huns, Gypsies, Hungarians and the Gaels/Celtics.

The war between the two ruling house of Great Britain ( England and Scotland) wich peaked in the battle between Queen Mary and vqueen Elizabeth 1 was a war between white rule and black rule of the nation of England. During and after the reign of Queen Elizabeth 1 of England therev was a clan of black Northumbria in Great Britain that was not loyal to Queen Elizabeth 1 and her successor King George. Queen Elizabeth 1 paid tribute to the king of black northumbria called black mail or black tribute.

The British language has many words that came from the Celtic languages. the Celtic languages derived from the Igbo language or the Canaanite language. The Druids( Duru Idu in Igbo) were British Isle priest that came from Africa.

According to Mac Ritchie those who bear the last names Kenneth, Kennedy, Murray, Moore, Graham, Douglas, Marshall, Gawain, Duff, Dunn, Gray, Black, Brown and names with the title Mac/Mc are all the descendants of the black population of Ancient Britain.

The Gypsy ( E gypt ian) title of Romani ( derived from Roma from wich derived Rome/Roman) could be a backward spelling of Mor (Igbo Umu Oru).

Where do I say anything about the length of anyone's hair in my comment?

I mentioned "the shape of the skull and the hairline".

Your compulsive, knee-jerk inclination to respond to anything which looks like support of Mike's views causes you to make irrelevant criticisms.
