Africa was once synonimous with Dictatorship. The first dictators were the colonial masters.

The Post-colonial expectations of Democracy for Africans were surprisingly marred ny coups, counter-coups and Dictatorship. Some people said Africa was not ready for self-governance or that Africa was cursed.

Looking back at the Post-colonial period, It overlaps with the Cold-War era; West versus East struggle for supremacy over the rest of the world. Africa got caught up in it and Dictators were supported by either West or East.

President Adama Barrow Lands In Gambia Amid Tight Security.

Gambia's President Adama Barrow has finally returned home Thursday, to solidify his position as the country's first new commander in chief in two decades after a political crisis that sent the previous ruler into exile. Gambians eagerly awaited Barrow at the airport in Banjul amid tight security. Barrow defeated Jammeh in December elections, but the veteran leader did not want to cede power.

Barrow was sworn into office on Jan. 19 at the Gambian Embassy in neighboring Senegal because of security threats as Jammeh clung to power.

Jammeh finally left Gambia last weekend, bowing to international pressure that included a regional military force, ending a more than 22-year rule. The West African troops were poised to oust Jammeh if diplomatic talks failed.

There are currently 2,500 of the ECOWAS troops still in Gambia — in the capital, Banjul, as well as at key crossing points between Gambia and Senegal and at the port and airport, according to Sweden's U.N. Ambassador Olof Skoog, the current U.N. Security Council president.

Great post and great commentary Jantavata. The African elite have to step up their games and copy the Western elite. The real power is no longer in the throne, the real power are behind the throne in the hand of the big banking, merchant, royal families and the secret societies that they control. The president is selected by them and elected by the people to carry the agenda of the elite and take the blame for their failure.

It doesnt make sense that rich African presidents like Mouammar Kaddafi, Mobutu SeSe Seko, Robert Mugabe, Jose Dos Santos, Paul Biya, Denis Sassou Ngesso and Middle Eastern Pres like Saddam Hussein have stays in power for twenty years and more. Once you become rich as an African President you should retire and become a banker, a businessman and even a traditional African King or Queen. The next step is to take control of the country secret society or create your own. After that the ex president will use his money and secret society to organize election and control power behind the scene.

If a candidate want to be elected in a powerful political post like president, prime minister, head of the senate, head of congress, officers in the army, head of the spy agency, chief of police head of the media they have to join the ex president secret society. An army of servant and cook will be hire to work inside the house of important politicians and officers in order to poison them if they misbehave. Small dormant bombs will be place inside the plane, helicopter and cars of important people that can be activated to cause accidents. The politicians and officers of the army should send their children to school were many teachers are member of our secret society that can kidnap the children in case of rebellion and coup attempt. I dont like that method but maybe or maybe not high level politicians should have skeletons or a whole cemetery in their closet before being elected to powerful position in order to be bribemail. The reason to be that cruel is because African and Middle Eastern countries have strong tribal, ethnic, regional and religious competition that have caused chaos.

Lenin stated in order to control the opposition we are going to lead it ourselves. The ex president will create fake opposition that he will control behind the scene.

When you are a rich banking and business family you can be in power for life without going in election and having a stressful political job. Brief the African elite need to study the banking family of Europe and North Africa. They dont have to stage wars and genocide like them but they can study their method of political control behind the scene.

I think that Africans had gotten so used to Dictatorship that was re-inforced by the Cold War. Remember Mengistu Haile Mariam of Ethiopia? He is in exile in Zimbabwe. But, Ethiopians are asking why Ethiopian dictorship is being passed over to question other African Dictatorships.

Mengistu Haile Mariam

I once made a joke that, a Western President would travel to Nigeria and ask for Democracy. He would move on to Egypt and commend their effort. Finally he would go to Saudi Arabia and say: "Do as you like, just give us Oil".

Western pyramid of control

I am amazed that the Old Money families never venture into politics, but stay in the background pulling the strings. When the populace are tired of one Political Party, they are compensated with the other Political Party.

The Pyramid of Power; from the UN Security Council to the Council of Foreign relations, defines White Supremacy, and sets being White as the ultimate goal for non-white people.

Africa has been cursed in his post-independence days by a bunch of vile dictators who have killed and robbed their people. Yayha Jammeh was a almost illiterate army man who on the day of the coup against Dawda Jawarah hadonly 200 Dalasis in his pocket. He was thin and scrawny and now he has a big belly covered over with big robes. He killed and stole at will. Just a buffoon always parading around with a walking stick and a Qur'an.

Officially, His Excellency, Chief, Professor, Alhaji, Yayha Jammeh[those were his titles]is now worth millions of dollars[he owns a house worth $4 million in the U.S. plus other properties] ruled with an iron fist.

But above all, the absurdity of a country called the Gambia is a laughing insult to the continent of Africa. Look at the map and see the absurdity of the geography of the Senegambia. Gambia is like along worm in the belly of Senegal. How was such a joke country imposed on Africa? The British patrolled the whole Gambian river[recall that Gambia was the home of Alex Haley's Kunta Kinteh] to stop ships transporting captured Africans down to the coast to be shipped across the Atlantic. That's why Gambia is as long as Senegal but 20 miles wide on average[some parts wider than others]with the Gambia river in the middle.

The rational thing to do is to incorporate Gambia into Senegal--with Gambia remaining a province of Senegal. But no one wants to tackle this stupid divide. It's stupid because lots of money is wasted on stupid boundaries with corrupt border guards always on the lookout to shake travelers down with heavy border duties. Plus money has to be changed by money changers from dalasis to CFA. Just a stupid waste.

Further clarification: the rest of the Senegambia was under French control apart from the territory the British controlled along the length of the Gambia river.

Some details of the capture of Africans along the River Gambia. In this case the story of Suleiman Diallo.

The geographical position of Gambia was as deliberate as the position of Nigeria: both countries are surrounded by French speakers and CFA; a divide-and-rule strategy for colonisation and neo-colonisation purposes.

Well, in this world of geopolitics Britain and France will play their brand of chess. It is incumbent on Africans to counteract and make choices in their best interests. But the greedy and even stupid political classes have no idea that they are being played.

Recently, stupid fools in the Cameroon were fighting over the influence of French and English--2 alien colonial languages--that society. Same stupidity as in the case of Muslims and Christians slaughtering each other in the CAR. Over 2 BS imported religions.

In the case of West Africa the sensible goal should be to checkmate the goals of French and British colonialism in West Africa. There is ECOWAS, but the fools who run these governments are more beholden to France and the US/Britain than to themselves. The goal of ECOWAS should be a single currency and free movement of goods and services within that bloc. That way French and British neocolonialism could be checkmated.

It all goes back to the Gambia syndrome: whatever the colonialists did is just fine and dandy. That's why you have the sacrosanct absurdity of the Gambia.

Without making excuses for the political classes, they all have their European Masters. Sekou Toure of Guinea tried what you suggested, but he was alone.

The Francophone countries were assimilated by France before their mere flagship independence: they never had the kind of independence other countries tried to have.

What is going on in Africa is the final stage of 2,000 years of Destruction of Black Civilization.

The colonialists never left; they only handed over to their faithful servants, took off their military uniforms and returned in business suits.

Perhaps, because so many problematic nation states were the creation of the rampaging British Empire, before Adolf Hitler took advantage of lack of Homeland Security.
