Actually it seems that Ramses III tomb has the only Book of Gates which eventually depicts Nubians and Egyptians as similar. Even Anta Diop had to admit that
quote: Professor Anta Diop has declared that plate 48 is a true reflection of the original painting, and that it proves that the ancient egyptians were identical in appearence to the Nubian, even though he admits no other examples of the 《Table of Nations》show this similarity.
So even if he was right concerning Ramses III:s tomb, it still was only one example of this table that showed the similarity. That does not say much about a countries more than 3000 long demographic history.
It can have just been a personal preference from Ramses III.
Otherwise he did not hesitate to depict Nubian prisoners among his enemies

no matter what is stated, Ramses the 3rd is the only one with nubian and egyptian looking similar. Yet all you need is one, and Its possibly because of the pressures of conflict that the egyptians looked similar to Nubians but that is a Fact that remains.
The nubians and egyptians were grouped together as the same people to show that the egyptians felt closer to the nubians, none of the middle easterners were ever grouped as one with the Egyptians.

Do you have any picture of the whole row of figures? I read it is supposed to be 16 figures, four Egyptians, four Asiatics, four Nubians and four Libyans. But it seems hard to find a good picture of all of them together.

^ I think the confusion may come to the fact that these figures are listed as Kemmemu Niwt (Egyptians of the nation) in the sense that they are nationalized Egyptians and not necessarily ethnic Egyptians.

the figures turn 90 degrees in an alcove. The green line on the right is actually pointing to a Libyan at an oblique angle
if the view was rotated then the Libyan would be straight ahead like in the photo at the top of this post The red line is pointing to the seated king glyph
