When thinking about archaeology & Bible stories pre-exodus, I really think that the Proto-Hebrews were in the area of Libya & west, moved to Egypt during drought, then moved east to Israel after finding their former lush lands had remained parched. Upon moving to the Jordan valley, they adopted stories from the Canaanites to get grandfathered into the local culture, then began dominating the area.

The proto-Hebrews included Egyptians who have some West African origin.
