This poem is to all the the Egyptian Queens of ES espeically Monica, Rimo, Tall_Peincess, TigerLily and Mooly El Din and the others that I might have missed. May Allah smile upon you everyday.
She is one girl, there is no one like her. She is more beautiful than any other. Look, she is like a star goddess arising at the beginning of a happy new year; brilliantly white, bright skinned; with beautiful eyes for looking, with sweet lips for speaking; she has not one phrase too many. With a long neck and white breast, her hair of genuine lapis lazuli; her arm more brilliant than gold; her fingers like lotus flowers, with heavy buttocks and girt waist. Her thighs offer her beauty, with a brisk step she treads on ground. She has captured my heart in her embrace. She makes all men turn their necks to look at her. One looks at her passing by, this one, the unique one.
This poem really means alot to me. This is how I picture my Egyptian Queen.How I picture my Egyptian partner. I guess you can call me a romantic. But I truly believe in romance. I guess you can say I am one of the last romantics
I hope everyone enjoys this poem. It's from Ancient Egypt.

Rimo, wooow this is one of favourite poems I have the book here with me.
This poem is called A woman's last word
Here it is
Let's contend no more, Love, Strive nor weep: All be as before, Love,Only sleep! ===== What so wild as words are? I and thou In debate, as birds are, Hawk on bough! ====== See the creature stalking While we speak! Hush and hide the talking, Cheek on cheek! ===== What so false as truth is, False to thee? Where the serpent's tooth is Shun the tree ====== Where the apple reddens Never pry Lest we lose our Edens, Eve and I ====== Be a god and hold me With a charm! Be a man and fold me With thine arm! ====== Teach me, only teach, Love As I ought I will speak thy speech, Love, Think thy thought ======== Meet, if thou require it, Both demands, Laying flesh and spirit In thy hands. ========= That shall be to-morrow Not to-night: I must bury sorrow Out of sight ============ Must a little weep, Love, (Foolish me!) And so fall asleep, Love, Loved by thee. ========
Cheers
Ps I was typing very quickly so watch out for typo !

Rimo, I have read this book about a year ago, I think it addresses ,for the first time, very bold and daring facts about the Egyptian society , but I did not strike me at the time as a great novel, may be I need to read it again. I have in my library here, I will go and look for it

Cheers ============ When love beckons to you follow him,
Though his ways are hard and steep.
And when his wings enfold you yield to him,
Though the sword hidden among his pinions may wound you.
And when he speaks to you believe in him,
Though his voice may shatter your dreams as the north wind lays waste the garden.
For even as love crowns you so shall he crucify you. Even as he is for your growth so is he for your pruning.
Even as he ascends to your height and caresses your tenderest branches that quiver in the sun,
So shall he descend to your roots and shake them in their clinging to the earth.
Like sheaves of corn he gathers you unto himself.
He threshes you to make you naked.
He sifts you to free you from your husks.
He grinds you to whiteness.
He kneads you until you are pliant;
And then he assigns you to his sacred fire, that you may become sacred bread for God's sacred feast.
All these things shall love do unto you that you may know the secrets of your heart, and in that knowledge become a fragment of Life's heart.
But if in your fear you would seek only love's peace and love's pleasure,
Then it is better for you that you cover your nakedness and pass out of love's threshing-floor,
Into the seasonless world where you shall laugh, but not all of your laughter, and weep, but not all of your tears.
Love gives naught but itself and takes naught but from itself.
Love possesses not nor would it be possessed;
For love is sufficient unto love.
When you love you should not say, "God is in my heart," but rather, I am in the heart of God."
And think not you can direct the course of love, if it finds you worthy, directs your course.
Love has no other desire but to fulfil itself.
But if you love and must needs have desires, let these be your desires:
To melt and be like a running brook that sings its melody to the night.
To know the pain of too much tenderness.
To be wounded by your own understanding of love;
And to bleed willingly and joyfully.
To wake at dawn with a winged heart and give thanks for another day of loving;
To rest at the noon hour and meditate love's ecstasy;
To return home at eventide with gratitude;
And then to sleep with a prayer for the beloved in your heart and a song of praise upon your lips.

Hi! Tall_Penicess, Thanks for the reply. Glad you enjoyed the poem. It was written over 3,000 years ago on papyrus scroll. It seems love has remained the same over the centuries.
Also, I have posted two more poems also from Ancient Egypt. Which is on another thread call "Another Poem For the Queens of ES.

I hope all the Egyptian Women of ES enjoy this poem as you did the first one. If I truly find my love in Egypt this is how I would feel for her with all my heart and soul.
I hope she is reading this.
I wish I were your mirror so that you always looked at me. I wish I were your garment so that you would always wear me. I wish I were the water that washes your body. I wish I were the unguent, O woman, that I could annoit you. And the band around your breasts, and the beads around your neck. I wish we could walk through, eternity together. My most fairest one of the lands.
If you like this poem lets hear some views. Salam, Brian

The Prophet ha?, I loved this book, someone borrowed it, apparently he loved it so much too, he decided to keep it Thanks Mooly dear. Hey , you know what my absolute favorite is? it's a short one by Yeats, actually I posted that in another thread, I wouldn't want to repeat myself, but hey, you've been very sweet so here it is. Did you know he wrote it for a woman he loved who won't marry him? gues she was in the Irish Resistance or something,,,,,,career woman,,,, do you think she was stupid? I don't know in her shoes what I'd have done, what would you do Mooly? Here is the poem
"Had I heaven's Embroidered clothes, enrought with gold and silver lights the blue, the dim and the dark clothes, of the night and light and the half light, I would spreed my clothes under your feet but i being poor have only my dreams, i would spread my dreams under your feet, tread softly because you tread on my dreams."
"To know the pain of too much tenderness." by the way this is my favorite part , what is yours?

My favourite part is
I would spread my clothes under your feet, but I being poor have only my dreams, i would spread my dreams under your feet, tread softly because you tread on my dreams.
This part reminds of "Without hope there is no hope at all".

this poem is for my special one...... see you soon insh2lah......
Through all eternity to thee A joyful song I'll raise, For oh! Eternity is too short To utter all thy praise.
Your words are my food, your breath is my wine You are everything to me.
I love you not only for what you are, but for what I am when I am with you
As we grow older together, As we continue to change with age, There is one thing that will never change... I will always keep falling in love with you.
As I stand here today with the world as my witness, I pledge to you my undying and everlasting love. I will stand beside you as your partner, I will stand before you as your protector, And I will stand behind you as your solace. Please spend and end your life with me.
Your lips speak soft sweetness Your touch a cool caress I am lost in your magic My heart beats within your chest
I think of you each morning And dream of you each night I think of your arms being around me And cannot express my delight
Never have I fallen But I am quickly on my way You hold a heart in your hands That has never before been given away
